We all know how Caitlin Clark has two personas. The calm and cool off-court Clark and the fierce, relentless No. 22 on the floor. But who knew that her boyfriend, Connor McCaffery, who often has a smile on his face and seems to be of cool demeanor, might be a hot head between the lines? In the realm of college basketball, where every dribble and shot can make or break a career, Connor McCaffery stands out as a multifaceted figure. However, this time, a startling revelation from his own family has shed light on the Bulldogs’ latest assistant coach’s intense practice habits.
In the recent episode of ‘The Bulldog Bark Podcast’, Patrick McCaffery, Connor’s younger brother, made a guest appearance and dropped a bombshell, revealing the real reason he rarely faces off against his elder sibling on the court. “Yeah, so Connor and I didn’t play one-on-one for a really long time because we would fight and it would get like bad like we punch each other all that kind of stuff, so like we didn’t play for a really long time,” revealed Patrick during the podcast. Moreover, according to the new Butler addition, he is a complete champion against his younger brother Jack McCaffery, even if not against his older sibling.
Patrick McCaffery is following in his brother Connor’s footsteps. Making a significant impact on the Iowa basketball program as a key player, he showcased his skills and athleticism. The 24-year-old became the 54th Hawkeye player to reach the 1000 career points mark, ending his run as a Hawkeye with 1045 points. His last season with the Hawkeyes before joining Butler University was also incredible since he had scored an average of 8.9 PPG and 2.8 RPG in 31 games that he played. It can be speculated that under the guidance of his elder brother, he is going to excel in the sport even more rapidly.

Now coming to Connor. As a player, he was known for his high basketball IQ and leadership skills, attributes that made him a valuable asset to the Iowa Hawkeyes during his collegiate career. His ability to read the game and make split-second decisions on the court translated into impressive statistics. This included a career assist-to-turnover ratio of 3.59 that ranks among the best in the Big Ten and second-best in NCAA MBB history.
Having become a coach with the University of Butler’s basketball squad, Connor still shows the same level of intensity he once had. Although Patrick has revealed Connor’s intense style, it’s clear that the oldest McCaffery is a beloved member of the family. And with Caitlin Clark by his side, he seems to be living a happy and fulfilling life.

Caitlin Clark is always present to cheer on her boyfriend
The Indiana Fever’s point guard recently made a surprise appearance during a Butler’s practice session. The 22-year-old stand-out was seen sitting on one of the side benches of the basketball court carefully examining the gameplay of the young players. This move can be speculated to be a supporting gesture for her boyfriend, who has recently become the assistant coach of the Bulldogs. But this is not the only time.
A few days ago, when Connor joined the Butlers after being a part of the Indiana Pacers, Clark took to her Instagram to congratulate him. “Yayy!! So happy for you,” read the caption of the story posted by the point guard. Back in January, Connor paid tribute to his girlfriend by making a sweet post to mark her 22nd birthday, and Clark returned the favor by wishing him in July. “Celebrating you is easy,” wrote Clark in the post’s caption with her witty humorous take.
