Tonight, two of Dawn Staley’s own A’ja Wilson and Kamilla Cardoso locked horns in the Wintrust Arena. The Sky vs Aces also featured two of the league’s top rebounders in the Aces’ No. 22 and Angel Reese. And tonight’s game was everything that was expected of it. Reese kept her relentless run despite the foul troubles and Wilson teased the rookies. Consequently, fans couldn’t help but watch in awe as the reigning Finals MVP rose once again in her purest form.

A’ja Wilson ended the night on a high note with 31 points. Showing off her abilities throughout the court, she also added 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks. While her skills are as mesmerizing as her very aura, what took the spotlight was her game against the rookies. As she faced Chicago’s lottery picks for the first time tonight, she did not leave any chance to educate them. She rained foul troubles on Angel Reese. The LSU alumna picked up two of her four personal fouls in the very first half, sitting most of the second quarter. On the other hand, Las Vegas kept the Brazilian Killa Milla to just 5 points for the night.

Nevertheless, the Chi-Town Barbie gave it her all. She recorded her ninth consecutive double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds. With this, she tied Candace Parker for the longest double-double streak in a single season. The 3x WNBA champion also holds the record for the longest overall streak at 12. Surely, Reese said she couldn’t be afraid, and she wasn’t.

For the Sky, Chennedy Carter and Marina Mabrey combined for 41 points, which failed to inspire the team. On the other end, apart from A’ja Wilson, Kelsey Plum also gave one of her best exhibitions tonight with 21 points. Additionally, Jackie Young came up with 22 points to push the Aces to their third consecutive win.

In the end, it was the WNBA’s leading rebounder and her teasing of the rookies that took center stage in the visitor’s 95-83 win.

A’ja Wilson leaves Aces loyalists in a trance

Angel Reese was quite excited to go against her mentor tonight. Only to realize that fun time was over for the Aces as soon as they stepped in between the lines. A’ja Wilson killed it on the floor, pulling up threes and impossible layups. In the very first half, the Columbia, South Carolina native added 23 points for her team, giving the rookies a first-hand experience of playing against the MVP.

One fan noticed just that as they commented how A’ja Wilson has become someone unstoppable this season. In fact, they specifically said how just like Shaquille O’Neal, she is dominating the paint with a strong physical presence and like LeBron James, holds ball-handling skills.

“A’ja Wilson is incredible…like a female skill level of what would be a combination of LeBron and Shaq…simply put she’s unstoppable.”

Another follower could only push too hard at the fact that A’ja Wilson is a completely different breed when it comes to basketball. They shared a clip of one former Gamecock shooting a two against another South Carolina alum after a fake turnaround. This play came early in the second quarter as Wilson boasted her dominance from the very beginning.

The 2x champion A’ja Wilson is showing how their team truly has what it takes to win a third. This, she does by leading the league in average scoring and putting up 23 of her 31 points of the night in just the first half. In awe of her talent, one fan said how there is no one in the WNBA that can truly keep this scoring machine from taking her shots.

there’s no woman alive that can guard A’ja Wilson. casual 20pt half.”

Remember how Hailey Van Lith could do nothing but shrug in disappointment when the former Lady Tiger could not hold back Caitlin Clark? One Aces fan resurfaced that very image but with a different context. This time, it was Kamilla Cardoso trying to guard A’ja Wilson but all she could do was shrug that there was nothing that could stop Las Vegas’ forward.

Angel Reese too was a target for Wilson tonight. Teaching the Sky rookie some tricks down her sleeves, the 2018 first-overall pick gave her some live lessons. One of them was recording 15 points in a quarter after multiple deep runs to the basket. On the other side, the Baltimore native could do nothing but grind against the greatest hooper in the league right now.

The Chicago Sky will leave Las Vegas with a loss but a lot to learn. Nevertheless, the mere fact that they were able to keep up with the 2x reigning champions throughout the game was applauding enough of their efforts on the court. Next, Teresa Weatherspoon and the squad will host the current Commissioner’s Cup champions, Minnesota.
