In 2024, she joined the Chicago Sky on a training camp contract. And within months, she was soaring—averaging 17.5 points per game. She had it all: agility, speed, and strategy, proving to be a valuable boost to the team. She was ranked second in the WNBA in fast-break points (3.7), and the only guard among the top ten in points in the paint. Despite all this success, the Sky didn’t extend a qualifying offer to her. But don’t worry, she isn’t demotivated! Instead, she’s focused on something else.
To know more about it, we need to delve deeper into Carter’s recent visit to N3on’s podcast for a recent episode. And there, she came out revealing some of the off-court priorities. When asked about the games she enjoys, she shared: “I be on Call of Duty. I be on GTA… sometimes I be rage quitting… I’m a rage quitter a little bit, sometimes.”
She added, “But yeah, I can’t wait for GTA 6 to come out. Ooh, that’s gonna be fire… Yeah, one of my favorite streamers.” Yes, she likes gaming and her love for it is quite evident from her words. In case you’re unaware, Rockstar Games has officially confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI will launch in Fall 2025 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with industry insiders hinting at a possible September release.

So, Carter has her eyes on something new and she just cannot wait! I mean, can any gaming fan??? Especially when the upcoming version takes players back to the vibrant streets of Vice City, now part of the fictional state of Leonida, and introduces two protagonists—Lucia, the franchise’s first female lead in decades, and her partner Jason, in a storyline inspired by Bonnie and Clyde.

Now you get it, why she’s so excited??? But there’s more to it! GTA 6 promises next-level realism with dynamic weather, evolving cityscapes, and a more immersive open world. Since the record-breaking trailer dropped in December 2023, Rockstar and parent company Take-Two have kept a low profile, waiting to ramp up marketing closer to launch.
With an estimated $1 billion in pre-orders and $3 billion in first-year revenue, GTA 6 is already poised to become one of the biggest game releases in entertainment history. So, it seems all your doubts about her gaming interests are clear now. But, there’s more to it!
When She’s Not Hoopin’, She’s Still Hoopin’
It all started way back when she was dropping game-winners and leading Texas A&M into the NCAA tournament. At the time, Carter was already putting in work on and off the court. But believe it or not, some of her most formative battles weren’t under the bright lights of Reed Arena—they were in her dorm room, on a PS4 controller.

From Texas A&M to GTA 6, is Chennedy Carter redefining what it means to be an athlete?
Have an interesting take?
“When I’m not hoopin’, that’s where I’m hoopin’, you know?” Carter said with a laugh, referring to her favorite off-court hobby: NBA 2K. Gaming wasn’t just a hobby for her—it was a world where she imagined the kind of player she wanted to become. Her 2K MyPlayer, named after herself, got drafted by the Milwaukee Bucks, made it through limited rookie minutes, and eventually found herself toe-to-toe with Steph Curry and Kevin Durant in the NBA Finals. “We were losing by two with a few seconds to go and we had the ball. Khris Middleton inbounded to me and I put up a three to win it… it rimmed out. Game over.”
That miss? It wasn’t a defeat—it was motivation. In a way, it foreshadowed a moment that would later happen in real life. It came when she had the chance to take the final shot for the Aggies in the NCAA tournament against DePaul. Only this time? “I knew it was good,” she said. “I just had to wait for it to go in to celebrate.”
It did go in. And the dorm room dreams came full circle.

But her swagger? That started way before 2K or even her Texas A&M days. Back when she was just a kid growing up in Mansfield, Texas, Chennedy stumbled across a video on YouTube that would change her forever: Allen Iverson crossing up Michael Jordan.
“Man … I was sold. I wanted to be like A.I.” That clip sparked a fire. Her dad designed a unique drill just to sharpen her handling—dribbling a tennis ball in the grass. No easy feat. The bounce was unpredictable, the terrain rough. But Carter kept grinding. “If you can learn to dribble in this grass,” her dad told her, “imagine what you could do with a basketball.”
And that’s exactly what she did. The backyard drills, the street ball games with her brothers, the solo grind in 2K, and the endless hours in practice all shaped a player with real flair and fearlessness. “I had that confidence. That A.I. swagger.”

It was that same confidence that helped her lead Texas A&M, not just with stats, but with presence. Whether it was dropping buckets or getting soaked with Gatorade after a buzzer-beater, Chennedy Carter was never just a baller. She was a vibe. And that was how she molded herself into a scoring phenom now. So, what do you think? Any WNBA team will pick her any time soon??
