In today’s 85-77 winner against the Atlanta Dream, her former team, Chennedy Carter stole the show, dropping a remarkable 26-point game. There is no doubt that the 5’9 guard is a force on the court. Playing her 4th season in the WNBA, Carter’s dominance is exemplified by the fact that she doesn’t shy away from making tough shots. Acknowledging the same, Coach Weatherspoon sang praises in the post-game interview about Carter’s playing style; even going on to say it resembles NBA All-Stars Kyrie Irving and Allen Iverson.
In the post-game interview, Weatherspoon went on to showcase her confidence in Carter as she described the guard’s energy on the team. “She’s definitely our energy, she makes our engine go, she brings the life to us offensively. As far as scoring and her ability to get everybody involved, she does a lot for us on offensive end but she does a lot more off for as well on the defensive side of the ball. She’s willing to guard the best, willing to get down in the Paint With The Bigs and guard The Bigs, but she brings a lot to this team that makes us flow.”
She also added, “She has a little bit of Iverson in her, she has a little Kyrie in her, she has a lot of that, but I look at as Kennedy Carter who’s creating her own name.”

Carter indeed is highlighting her own style of play this season. Being a 4th-year player, Carter is emerging into a versatile guard, who also knows how to pose a strong threat altogether. As much as she loves to dominate, her game flows in sync with her mindset.
Despite all the hatred going around, Chennedy Carter lets her game do the talking. As for this season, she has been registering double-digit scores that include 14 10+ point games and 4 20+ point games, becoming the second-best scorer on Chicago’s roster.
Moreover, her free throw percentage goes off the charts, given her firm dominance in the paint. In the game against the Dream, she scored 80% by making 4-of-5 free throws and 11-of-16 field goals at 68.8%. Simply put, her game in the paint is a sure shot killer making most of the shots 50% and above.
One can say it is the result of the love she shares with her Chicago Sky teammates.
Carter turning love into her strength
In the post-game interview, Carter was welcomed back by the reporters to the city of Atlanta where she played her rookie season. In the minutes that followed, Carter was asked about her dominant play and its connection to the Atlanta Dream.
She then casually responded saying that she wanted to keep her focus locked on her game and not on her opponents. She stated, “I just didn’t want to shift my focus.” And that’s exactly what she did. Played to the best of her ability, and led Chicago to this significant win. Especially her performance in the fourth quarter, where Chicago took a 6-point lead over Atlanta.

Further, she talked about coming out of her shell, and with the love and support of her team, she is only getting more comfortable as the season moves forward. This support from her team is already translating on the court as her combination with Angel Reese has successfully earned the moniker – ‘Barbie and Ken’.
