Chennedy Carter carries her electric energy everywhere. On Sunday night in the game against Clark, Carter had an odd request for the DJ as a pregame routine that though the set mood in the arena but might have upset rapper Drake. On her Instagram stories on Tuesday, Carter burst into laughter after she recollected this instance before the game.

The Chicago Sky was battling Indiana Fever for the third this season against the Indiana Fever. During the pregame, Carter came up to the DJ and requested him to change the song from 3 Headed Goat to Not Like Us. The same was shared by Chicago Tribune writer Julia Poe on her social media networking platform X account.

Carter recently shared a screenshot of the post by Poe on her Instagram story and captioned it as “this makes me laugh everytime.” The original post from Poe had an image of Carter with the DJ and was captioned as “Chennedy Carter just sprinted across the entire building to ask the DJ to put in a song request for pregame warmups (‘3 Headed Goat’ into ‘Not Like Us’).”

While ‘3 Headed Goat’ is a song by Lil Durk, the title in some ways was similar to the three rookie geniuses performing on the day- Angel Reese, Caitlin Clark, and Kamilla Cardoso. But Carter’s request might have upset the popular rapper Drake since ”Not Like Us’ is a diss track on him by Kendrick Lamar. But whatever gets the ball rolling for Carter and gets her in the mood. And surely, looks as if the doing paid off.

Carter scored the second-highest points for her team in the game. She was just below Reese for her squad and had 23 points with 2 rebounds and 5 assists. This surely makes it look like Carter was charged up with the song. The Sky edged past the Fever albeit by a narrow margin of 88-87 and got their first victory against the Fever at home in this year’s WNBA.

Meanwhile, it wasn’t Carter only who took her game to the next level. Reese and Cardoso scored a double-double and gave a tough reply to Clark & Co. While Reese scored 25 points with 16 rebounds, Cardoso added 16 points with 10 rebounds. All this proved that it was the hard work of Reese & Co., that precipitated in a close win for the Sky. With this, the Sky are looking to advance to the playoffs.

Perhaps, every athlete needs to hear the song, or motivational speech, or talk to their family- whatever charges them up and helps them perform better. Meanwhile, Drake would be sad that the diss track is sued by Cardoso to prep for the game. On the other hand, Reese would want Carter to hear the track whenever she wants her teammate to perform exceptionally well.
