This season, the news circle is full of sunshine and rainbows about Caitlin Clark’s record-setting display, where she continues to astonish the audience. Her deep 3-point shots are the x-factor that has attracted fans to her game after all. And with every other game that she plays, she leaves a mark without fail in each one. Last week as well, she became the youngest WNBA player to pass 500 points and 200 assists in a single season.

It is her key performance that is keeping the Fever on the path to the playoffs and going beyond the limits of the WNBA. Per reports, Clark has now achieved a refreshing feat that has left behind the big names of the NBA. As the report suggests, Clark’s average distance for making a 3-point shot is of 28ft, which has overshadowed Stephen Curry’s 27.58 ft, Damian Lillard’s 27.68 ft, and Trae Young’s 27.94 ft of average distance this season.

However, that’s not the important part as her coach, Christie Sides, is having concerns with Clark not setting up offenses and taking shots herself. Clark’s focus on scoring and making dimes has diminished her potential. Looking at her stats, Clark is averaging 17.9 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 8.3 assists per game. Her offense is running bleak with only 12 boards so far in the season.

“Yeah, Caitlin Clark needs to shoot a minimum of 15 shots a game for us. I mean, she’s got to get shots,” Sides expressed her concern regarding the issue. But, she also pointed out that there aren’t good enough players around her to help the team.

In late June, Sides expressed these concerns, but it still applies as these things haven’t changed much after the Olympics break. “We’ve got to do a better job of setting her up and setting some really good screens for her to get her open. The way people guard her, it’s tough, because she’s getting red-ed. So, once the ball is out of her hands, she’s setting the rest of our team up for some really great looks, but, when we’re not able to finish those, we’ve got to make sure we’re going back and trying to get her back to that ball, getting that ball back in her hands at times,” Sides reasoned.

So, how can Clark change that? Letting her moves do all the talking, Caitlin Clark has proved herself as a force who can undeniably make people bow down to her game. However, the need of the hour for Clark is to step up and improve on the offensive and shot-making aspects of her game.

Clark poses a strong defense with 154 rebounds on the defensive. Moreover, she has an impeccable court vision. But, when it comes to shot selection, she shouldn’t let her opponents force her hand.

Aliyah Boston, the Fever’s third-leading scorer, and Clark’s teammate, shines on both ends of the court at 3.1 and 6.1 offensive and defensive rebounds per game. Also, Boston is the only player on the roster to average 1.4 blocks per game.

Currently, Clark and Boston are the only players leading the Fever this season. Hence, it says a lot about the rest of the team and the requirement for them to push themselves a bit more to bring out that competitive edge in their respective game.
