When Caitlin Clark signed a deal with Panini America, fans were not sure of the high craze for her collectibles. Though Clark had become a fan favorite, no one had thought that she would have a card valued at $78,000. And now Panini has released another of her autographed memorabilia, which could outvalue her highest-valued card. The new Panini America card was picked up by a lucky fan while recording a video.
During the Backyard Breaks’ first break of the day, one of the fans got the Indiana Fever’s rookie signed card, and he jumped with joy. The value of the card can be estimated from the fact that the fan expressed his excitement like he had won a baseball game.
Clark had signed a deal with Panini America in March of this year during her time with the Iowa Hawkeyes. As per the deal, Clark’s memorabilia and trading cards would be released by Panini. Thus, it is said that Clark became the first female athlete to have such a deal with the billion-dollar company. As per Sportico, Clark will be paid more than $1 million during the first year, and future payments will depend on the number of products created and sold in the market.

Thus, the $78,000-valued card by Clark was from her time with the Hawkeyes. It was called the 2022 Bowman University Superfractor 1/1 Autograph. It broke all records for cards by a woman basketball player at the January Premier Auction at PWCC Marketplace. The card was so in demand that the bidding had to be increased for more than an hour than was planned. And now a fan finding another card looks like a starting point for smashing the previous record.

The new card is called the 2024 Panini National VIP Gold Pack Gold Vinyl 1/1 Autograph. Unlike the previous card, this one features Clark in her WNBA Indiana Fever jersey, and hence it is expected that more people will try to buy the card when it goes for auction. Therefore, it can surpass the previous price. As per Market Movers (h/t: Hobby Listings), Clark’s cards have seen an increase of around 3.5 percent in the last 30 days and could therefore hit the ceiling in the coming time. Clark’s card even found her a place in NASCAR this year.

In July, Panini brought Clark to fame in the NASCAR circuit when they were the sponsors for Josh Berry’s No. 4 Ford Mustang car. As per their branding plan, they featured Clark on the car. Their paint scheme was inspired by one of Clark’s cards, and “Raining 3” was printed on the car. Meanwhile, Clark was featured on the hood of the car with her Iowa number 22 jersey.
Panini’s VP had expressed his delight in partnering up with Berry and Stewart-Haas Racing by enumerating that “Panini America and NASCAR have had a long and successful relationship,” as per FOx 59, and they wanted Berry to have a great finish.
