Did Caitlin Clark dodge a bullet, or was it all thanks to Aaliyah Boston and Christie Sides?

When Indiana Fever locked horns against Dallas Wings on Sunday, Caitlin Clark didn’t only have to revamp her shooting prowess, but was also forced to play the game with a composed mind as just one another technical foul and she would have been out for the final fixture against Mystics on Thursday. Well, the rookie succeeded in her mission and, in fact, led her team to a very close victory by 110-109. However, the 22-year-old guard should be more than grateful to her teammate and coach for helping her avoid the seventh technical foul.

Caitlin Clark interacted with media in the post-game press conference and expressed how her teammate Aliyah Boston kept her away from technical fouls and rather sacrificed herself. “I didn’t think they were going to give me a technical at any point tonight. I would have been really sad for people in Washington, D.C. I didn’t want to do that and tried my best. But my teammates do a a really good job of that and I think it’s funny. And then Aliyah is the one that ends up with a technical. That’s the best part about it all. She is the one babysitting me, and then somehow she ends up with a technical. And she didn’t really do anything. She was just standing there. So that what was funny to to me.” Stated Clark.

The former Hawkeye found herself in the middle of yet another intense, physical battle against the Dallas Wings. At one point, things heated up when the rookie was called for an offensive foul. But in a moment that showed true teamwork, her teammate Aliyah Boston quickly stepped in, pulling Clark away from the officials before the situation could escalate, and raised her voice for the call against the rookie. Even head coach Christie Sides came to Clark’s defense.

The Fever No.22  also mentioned that it’s over now and she doesn’t have to worry about it. “But now it’s basically over. I don’t have to worry about that anyone, but I don’t want to be getting technical at all. So, and my mom doesn’t want that for me either. And I won’t. I don’t want to pay any more fines. So I’m done with that,” said the rookie guard.

After her strong showing against the Wings, it seems Clark has rediscovered her groove just in time for the Fever’s final game of the season against the Mystics on Thursday night.

Caitlin Clark’s record-breaking performance

In what was truly a thriller, Caitlin Clark delivered an impressive performance, doing everything she could to lead the Fever to a crucial win as their season winds down. The rookie guard exploded for 35 points and dished out eight assists, showcasing her scoring prowess. Clark shot 10-of-22 from the field, including an impressive 6-of-14 from beyond the arc, which is definitely far better than her last couple of performances.

In her recent matchups against the Las Vegas Aces,

the rookie struggled to find her rhythm, managing just three successful shots out of eighteen three-point attempts. Despite this challenging stretch, her recent performance is poised to energize both her and the Fever as they head into the playoffs with renewed determination.

With her standout scoring performance, Caitlin Clark has set a new record for the most points in a single season by a rookie. Clark has racked up 761 points, surpassing the previous record of 744 points set by Seimone Augustus of the Minnesota Lynx in 2006. She now averages 19.1 points along with 8.4 assists and is yet to miss a game in her debut season. With her focus now solely on the game and no longer having to worry about technical fouls, all eyes will be on how she performs in the final regular-season game on Thursday.
