Caitlin Clark has one too many endorsements in her books, but might Gatorade just be the biggest one? What started in December 2023 has led to a 150-foot banner in downtown Indianapolis, a co-designed merch set, and, for the best part, a commercial reviving Michael Jordan’s iconic “Is It In You?” tagline. We are talking all of it in a few months’ time. “[The] campaign is surreal to me,” the Indiana Fever icon would admit. But that might as well have just been a taste of what was to come. Because fast forward a year, CC is looking at something equally big. And this one came in her boyfriend’s backyard (not quite literally).
Gatorade enjoys a star-studded roster for its endorsers– Luka Dončić, Jayson Tatum, and A’ja Wilson, among other. Rightfully so. As of 2024, the drink was sold in more than 80 countries and boasted 46% of the worldwide sports drink market. So when Clark joined the team, it was dream come true. For Jeff Kearney, the global head of sports marketing, it was about “building upon the incredible impact she’s already made.” Fair to say, they have made quite the moves.
For its most recent campaign, Gatorade revisited the ‘Is It In You?’ expression once again to come up with “Lose More. Win More.” The commercial features all four aforementioned basketball stars alongside Kendrick Lamar, who narrates the ad centered around, ‘how much are you willing to lose’. And when the camera pans to CC, she can be seen in her element– shooting threes, a sharp dribble, and a determined stare down.

It was a hit when it came out, featured during the NBA playoffs weekend. Bloomberg called it “one of the biggest marketing campaigns ever for Gatorade.” But what makes it a little more special is where Clark’s segment was shot at– the Butler Bulldogs’ Hinkle Fieldhouse, Connor McCaffery’s stomping grounds as an assistant coach!
Butler Basketball Guru shared the behind-the-scenes clip on X, revealing, “Caitlin Clark in the recent Gatorade commercial. Filmed entirely in Butler’s historic Hinkle Fieldhouse.” It is a ground the 2024 ROTY is familiar with, having attended all those games this past season for her boyfriend. Talk about making it special.
But but but, this wasn’t the only thing Gatorade had in store for Clark.

Just around the time the campaign was released, the brand made it a little more exclusive with the Des Moines native. Clark was granted the flavour of her choice in a redesigned bottle, with her feature on the bottle. She joined Michael Jordan and Peyton Manning as some others to have had that honor. That’s royalty. Even more special for the Fever icon who has been a regular consumer growing up.
“Gatorade been a part of my life as long as I’ve been playing sports,” Clark admitted in an interview. “Once a year, you’d get picked to bring your own drink and snack for everyone at practice and mine was always the blue flavour.” Cool and collected on the court, and now a custom-made cool Blue Gatorade by her side. The redesigned bottle features a stoic image of Clark against a blue and orange background, accompanied by her signature and #22 jersey number. Perfect match. Sorry, Glacier Freeze.
Yeah, Clark is living the dream. This collaboration with the Pepsico’s (a brand valued at $196 billion) Gatorade though, was a small part of it.

The spotlight on Caitlin Clark is getting bigger and brighter
By now, everyone is well versed with the ‘Clark effect’. Caitlin Clark dominated the year 2024 on the court and off of it equally well. But that’s just the beginning. Her latest Gatorade advert is the latest signal that Clark is stepping fully into the global spotlight. Bloomberg’s words are the one to go by.
Then there is CC’s own Caitlin Clark x Nike Kobe 5 Protro release on June 1. The WNBA star had already turned heads after featuring in the advert “So Win,” during the recent Super Bowl game – the first time in 30 years that celebrated women’s sports.

On the court as well, after the successful rookie season, Clark will be the centre of the title contender Indiana Fever. The team has made shrewd trades to support their superstar player, and fans across the globe are expecting a championship next season. The quest begins on May 17.
