Indiana’s troubles don’t seem to have an end. Another valiant effort by Caitlin Clark went in vain as the Seattle Storm made a resounding statement by securing a 103-88 victory on Thursday. However, for the rookie, there’s another column that keeps racking up. Tempers flared in front of 15,022 people at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse as the intensity peaked between Clark and Victoria Vivians.

The heated moment transpired between the two players in the second quarter, with the visitors leading the scoreboard 34-25. At this time, Caitlin Clark made a stunning 32-foot three through an assist from Kelsey Mitchell. Following this, the 6-foot guard was seen approaching Vivians, which was followed by a minor scuffle between them.

Anyhow, the Fever’s No.7 Aliyah Boston intervened and prevented things from escalating. Moreover, officials and players also came in between, separating the two while head coach Christie Sides was seen calming Clark moments later. Soon after, the referees were convinced that the turn of events pointed towards a double technical foul. Even her supposed NCAA successor, JuJu Watkins, called her “a dawg” in the comments section of the post by Sports Center after Clark refused to back down.

This is the third overall and the second consecutive technical foul for the NCAA Division I all-time leading scorer. Her first WNBA technical was called during Indiana’s face-off against Connecticut, following her outraged cry at the officials. Caitlin Clark reflected on it afterward in the post-game press conference. She said, “Two competitive people and they hit us with a double tech. That’s about it.”

Despite the loss, the evening produced yet another classic display by the 2× USBWA National Player of the Year.

One more home special by Caitlin Clark

The struggles of Indiana aren’t preventing Caitlin Clark from realizing her true potential. The 22-year-old was the team’s second top scorer with 20 points along with 9 assists and 3 rebounds. Additionally, she was 6 of 17 from the field and 3 of 8 from beyond the arc in 40 minutes on the hardwood.

Clark was flawless from the free throw line yet again, with a conversion rate of 100% in her 5 attempts. Still, the night ended with 7 turnovers, which remains a gray area for her. This takes her tally to 51 in her rookie season. She is leading the league in that category, averaging a whopping 5.7 per game.

The squad needs to quickly regroup with their Commissioner Cup campaign just around the corner against Chicago. Fans will hope that they can put this loss behind them and turn the tables against Angel Reese and Co. A positive result might help them redeem the season.
