Caitlin Clark is fully embracing her offseason, and much of that time has been spent with her boyfriend, Connor McCaffery. While earlier she showed her support for Connor McCaffery as he stepped into his new role as an assistant coach for the Butler Bulldogs, the couple’s latest outing took them to Indianapolis, where they were seen together cheering on for the NBA franchise of the city. However, there was one other Indiana associate of Clark with her, which seems to have fueled fans’ excitement even more.

Clark made a trip to Gainbridge Fieldhouse with her boyfriend, cheering on the Indiana Pacers as they faced off against the Memphis Grizzlies in their preseason matchup. However, later an Instagram post from Fever hit social media which revealed the couple was also joined by another Fever player, Kelsey Mitchell. The post captioned, “@caitlinclark22 & @kelz_hoop showing their support for the @pacers squad at tonight’s game.”

Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell have proven to be a dynamic duo for the Indiana Fever, leading the team as the top scorers during the regular season. Each player averaged an impressive 19.2 points per game, showcasing their incredible talent on the court. Their strong on-court chemistry is evident, and even expressed her appreciation for Mitchell’s presence. “I feel very lucky and fortunate to have her (Mitchell) by my side. We could just make eye contact and she know to go back door,” stated Fever #22 earlier.

Fans rally for Kelsey Mitchell’s stay amid no contract renewal

As Clark just hit the WNBA and helped Fever in securing playoff berth after an eight year drought, it would have been difficult without Kelsey Mitchell’s consistent support to the rookie. While it was start of Clark’s WNBA  journey with Fever, Mitchell has been a vital part of the team since her debut in 2018. In fact, aside from her rookie year, Mitchell has consistently led the team’s scoring for six straight seasons.

However, after seven seasons, uncertainty looms over Mitchell’s future with the team. Currently out of contract, she has hinted at a potential departure in the past, leaving fans concerned about what lies ahead. Yet, as she spends quality time with Clark, supporters have seized the opportunity to rally for her return, urging the Fever to secure Mitchell’s signature for next season. Some fans took to the comments, asking for Kelsey to sign on for another season with the Fever.

However, despite the doubts over Mitchell’s future with the Indiana Fever, there also have been developments that sparks hope. One notable change is the return of Kelly Krauskopf as the franchise’s president. When her appointment was announced, Fever General Manager Lin Dunn expressed optimism, stating that Krauskopf’s return could play a crucial role in determining Mitchell’s fate. “She will be negotiating with Kelsey and her agents, and I can assure you we’ll do everything we can to keep her,” Dunn stated earlier.

Now, the sight of the two players together brought another wave of enthusiasm. One passionate supporter voiced their opinion on social media that Mitchell deserves dollars, urging the management to invest in her talent to ensure she stays with the Fever.

Even, Clark had written “Backcourt homie,” for a post showing their dominant performance in a win against the Dallas Wings earlier.

Therefore, another positive takeaway from Kelsey Mitchell’s recent outing with Clark is that her choice to spend the offseason with her ‘Backcourt homie’ might indicate her intention to stick around for another season. Fans are seeing this camaraderie as a signal her commitment to the team.
