Another iteration of Caitlin Clark vs Angel Reese is right around the corner. In the professional league, the Fever has an upper hand over the Chicago Sky with a 2-0 win-loss record. However, Teresa Weatherspoon’s team is also ready to take back a win. While everyone is calling this matchup a ‘rivalry,’ the NCAA’s all-time leading scorer has another take on the whole idea. While she denied any such relationship, the No. 22 did wonder why Chicago did not shift the game to the Chicago Bulls‘ Arena of a 21,000 capacity, the United Center.

In her postgame presser, Cailtin Clark reflected on her views going into Sunday’s game vs the Sky. She said, “I’m pretty sure the only people that view this as a rivalry is all of you (media). For us, it’s just a game of basketball. That’s what it is. If it’s gonna help move the game forward, absolutely that’s amazing. That’s what it should be. People could talk about it.”

The Fever rookie also added one thing that concerns her. That is the ticket price and the choice of arena. She said, “I saw the ticket prices. I think the only thing is I’m surprised we’re not playing at the United Center. I thought that could have been really good for the game and really good for all the women’s basketball game in Chicago. Maybe there’s some sort of conflict that I don’t know about.”

Currently, the game is set to take place in the Wintrust Arena where the Sky plays all of its games. According to ESPN, the tickets are coming at a minimum of $154. The average is $358 with about 400 more left until a sold-out crowd. Although the 2x National Player of the Year did not know why the move did not happen, her fans came up to add some thoughts.

Fans solve the riddle for Caitlin Clark

The golden rookie set the record straight that she wishes to play in the arena where Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen once played for the Bulls. However, there is a big shiny reason as to why the game cannot happen there. Apparently, Justin Timberlake has that arena for a few nights for his tour. Nevertheless, the Caitlin Clark fan army is all about their star hooper. One follower questioned Chicago and sided with the rookie. Bringing back the point that the tickets for this ‘rivalry matchup’ are coming at a high price, they pointed out that the teams should have played in a bigger arena. This would have ultimately reduced the price per head for the chit as well.

She is right. Should have moved to the @UnitedCenter. Not charge people over $300 per ticket in a small arena.”

Another Caitlin Clark loyalist joined the comment section to not just hype up the rookie but also inquire about the arena choice. According to the fan’s belief, any and every NBA arena should be made available for the 3x Nancy Lieberman awardee. Typically, the NBA arenas have a higher capacity for crowds. Many teams have surely shifted their games to their NBA counterparts just to host Clark and Indiana.

“Caitlin Clark is right about the next game against Chicago Sky. Why are they NOT playing at the United Center? Every NBA arena could be available at this point for when Caitlin comes to town.”

One WNBA follower apparently only came to comment on their views to fuel the fire. They openly suggested that Chicago moving the Fever’s game to a bigger arena could have created a backlash from the Sky fans. They also made their remark that the Sky is playing all the other games in the Wintrust arena, a smaller arena of just 10,387 seats.

“Could have moved the game to the United Center and grew the game even more. Guess that would’ve created all kinds of backlash, tho. Moving a Fever game to a larger arena, but all your other home games are in the 10000 seat arena. Totally understand why they didn’t.”

One Chicago Sky fan came to simply answer the question. Showcasing their disappointment, they commented that Wintrust Arena is the biggest available venue as of now. They mentioned that the United Center is booked from Friday through Sunday. Justin Timberlake’s tour is until June 22, 2024. But the arena is still booked for another concert by Russ for his ‘It was you all along’ tour featuring 6LACK and Melii. Another big arena in Chicago is the Allstate Arena, opened as Rosemont Horizon, which is booked for DePaul University.

“concerts at United Center Fri Sat Sun Also at Rosemont Horizon. DePaul…where Sky plays…biggest arena available. sad.”

A WNBA follower also pointed out that there was only one reason why the most-anticipated matchup of the WNBA this season is not in a bigger arena. They also confirmed the fact that Justin Timberlake indeed has taken up the United Center. But it looks like they are more or less blaming the singer for it all.

JT tour is the only reason that Fever/Sky game not at the United Center on Sunday

Seems like there are no open dates for Chicago to move their game around. Maybe, they will look for a bigger venue in their next matchup against Caitlin Clark. For now, the team might be looking to snatch a win from the Fever. Hopefully, this time around, there will be no controversial take like Chennedy Carter’s hip check on the rookie or Angel Reese’s “special whistle” comment.
