The red-hot Indiana Fever have been doused with the cold water of Uncasville. After surpassing pre-season expectations and actually making it to the playoffs, the Connecticut Sun sent them packing in the first round. With that, Caitlin Clark and Co. will head home as their offseason begins earlier than they expected. And while the Fever rookie revealed she’s planning to exchange the hard courts for the greens, her teammate Aliyah Boston is ready to rain on her parade!
In a post-game press conference, a reporter asked Clark if she planned to play overseas in the W offseason, she said, “I don’t know – I was focused on beating the Connecticut Sun, I haven’t thought too far down the line. I don’t know what I’m gonna do tomorrow, I don’t know what I’m gonna do the next day so.” But then she revealed that she might pick up a club and visit the golf greens after at least a year.
“Maybe play some golf. I think that’s what I’m gonna do until it gets too cold in Indiana. So I got that, I’ll become a professional golfer.” But quick to reply was Boston, who was sitting a seat away from the point guard. She smiled and said, “Not too much babe. Keep it basketball.”

Interestingly, when the Fever’s social media put up a video of the team playing mini-golf a few months ago, Boston’s scores were better than Clark’s. When the forward tagged CC in the comments, the Fever guard wrote, “@aliyah.boston plz leave me alone.” Clearly, Boston doesn’t want to do that!

Still, she just might follow up on that pending game with Debbie Antonelli and her idol Mia Hamm she promised back in May. But this is not the only time that the Fever rookie has taken refuge on the golf greens after a tough basketball loss.
When Caitlin Clark’s Iowa lost the championship to her rival Angel Reese’s LSU last year, she could be found at the Finkbine Golf Course at the Iowa campus. “Our coaches were like, ‘You need to get away from the gym,’ even though that’s really hard for me to do sometimes,” Clark told ‘Golf Digest’. “I still want to be active and do something, so I’m going to go to the golf course.”
Now that the Fever is done for the season, some players might choose to play overseas or in other leagues. But Clark has made it clear she will not be playing competitive basketball until the next team training camp in April, including Unrivaled, founded by the WNBA’s own Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier. Instead, she wants to rest.

No, she’s not giving up on her career entirely. It was a rookie season unlike any other, where Caitlin Clark averaged 8.4 assists each game, leading the W. Not only that, but she also averaged 19.2 points and 5.7 rebounds per game. New records were set and a ROTY trophy guaranteed. The Associated Press has already named the Fever player as its Rookie of the Year and named her to the AP All-WNBA First and Rookie Team.
But as Clark said further in the post-game press conference yesterday, “I feel like basketball has really consumed my life for a year, so I feel like it’ll be good for me to reflect back on everything that’s happened. I feel like I didn’t even have time to really reflect on my college career because it ended so fast, then I came here and was trying to give everything I could to this team and kind of move on to put all that behind me and help this team get back to the playoffs.”
While taking time off and reflecting is the answer, Clark also joked, “It’ll definitely be a little weird for me over the course of the first couple of weeks, then I’m sure I’ll get bored and pick up a basketball again.” This is exactly what the No. 22 responded after the WNBA All-Star Weekend as she chirped, “I’m on vacation!” And surely, she didn’t touch the ball until the training began.

So it’s certain now that fans won’t get to see CC in action until 2025. The W season begins in May, and while you might spot the Fever guard on the courts now and then, the excitement to see where she can take the Indiana team next will have to be reined in till next year.
