Caitlin Clark pushing Connor McCaffery—Is this the ultimate power couple in sports?

Caitlin Clark and Lexie Hull’s Olympic break trip to Mexico revealed a new side of the Fever rookie to the former Cardinal. “If you need a laugh, she’ll get it done for you,” Hull reported about Clark while reflecting on their growing chemistry. Their bonding was evident when the Fever fans tagged the two ‘best friends’ along with Katie Lou Samuelson as the ‘Indiana mermaids’. And now, when Hull, on Friday, shared a giveaway for her fans, Clark had a pricey request for boyfriend Connor McCaffery, probably just to win the prize.

Hull posted a video snippet of her going to the eatery ‘Sauce on the Side‘ on Friday and having her favorite food. The 25-year-old posted about a contest on the caption in which interested fans could follow the official page of the restaurant before liking the post, and tag that one person who they would love to spend time with at the bistro. “Want a chance to win a $100 gift card to Sauce on the Side?,” Hull had penned in the caption.

Noticing Hull giving away a gift card, Clark tagged McCaffery and also commented, “I hope I win.” Now that looks a little clever of Clark. However, it is justified considering the couple would be looking to spend time together after McCaffery left the Gainbridge Fieldhouse Arena.

Clark and McCaffery shared a comfortable space as the former ‘NCAA Queen’ practices at the Fever’s home arena where McCaffery was a coaching assistant for the Indiana Pacers. The duo was often spotted shooting together during their practice sessions. But that was before he returned to the NCAA and chose a job for the Butler Bulldogs. Post that, though both of them will remain in the same city since the Bulldogs are also based out of Indianapolis, the two would be a little distant from each other as the Bulldogs officially practice at the Hinkle Fieldhouse, which is about 20-30 minutes away from the Gainbridge.

Hence, Clark must be looking to get time with her boyfriend at the ‘Sauce on the Side,’ which is just a 2-minute drive from the arena. Regardless, the trip to Mexico along with their boyfriends looks to be the game-changer even on the court side of things. The sixth-seeded Indiana Fever have entered the post season for the first time since 2016 with their first of a three-game series against the Sun on Sunday. Hull, who was a starter most in the last season, was one of the firsts to have embraced the 22-year-old’s arrival despite knowing the fact that might change. Instead, a video went viral which saw Hull along with Erica Wheeler and Maya Caldwell celebrating while donning the no. 22 jerseys to mark the occasion.

After getting benched for six out of the first 21 games, the stars finally aligned for Hull after the month-long Olympic break. There was no turning back ever since the second post-Olympic Fever game when Hull shot six of her seven 3-point attempts to get a winning score of 92-75 against the Seattle Storm on Aug 19.

Have an interesting take?

It looks like all is well at the Fever camp with off-court chemistry surely paying dividends in win-loss ratio. In fact, Fever have won nine of their last 13 games! And now, although Clark’s actions were surely a little cheeky this time, nothing tops the time when Clark had a laugh at a double-entendre in Hull’s official statement.

Caitlin Clark can’t control giggling at Lexie Hull’s statement

Hull was inserted into the starting lineup on Aug 28, and just the next day, the Fever defeated the Connecticut Sun by an 84-80 margin, courtesy of Hull’s brilliant 17 points and 8 rebounds. Applauded for her defense, Hull was asked about her exceptional gameplay. To which the Washington-born replied that she loves to “get my hands on as many balls as I could.” This left Clark hysterical as she tried to control her laugh.

When Clark put her hands to her face, Hull, along with their teammate Kelsey Mitchell, joined in chuckles. While leaving the press conference room, Clark defended herself by enumerating that she “tried to hold it in.” However, she ultimately failed at that. This incident was enough to demonstrate how close Clark is to Hull that they now even have inside jokes, something we can expect out of the roster’s two best of friends.

And now with her comments on Hull’s post, Clark has once again given an example that her friend might not mind straying a little off the track. Even if Clark doesn’t win the giveaway, perhaps, fans will spot her sometime soon at the eatery along with McCaffery.
