Caitlin Clark came out to perform. Although the rookie had enough trouble connecting her shots, she made use of her other superpower– her passes! Consequently, she swept away yet another record and rewrote the history of the All-Star games. Interestingly, while she did not break the record by passing the ball to Angel Reese, she did extend it further. As for the Chicago Sky rookie, rebounding too ditched her. But she too grabbed her signature stat line with a solid double-double.

The first overall pick came into the weekend’s game already breaking a WNBA record with 19 assists against Arike Ogunbowale’s Dallas Wings. Ironically, she broke the rookie record for most assists in an All-Star game with 9 dimes while passing to the Wings guard. Additionally, the moment that everyone was also waiting for came right after the historic move. Caitlin Clark’s 10th and final assist for the night was to Angel Reese for an easy layup. The sly point guard passed the ball from between two defenders and into the hands of the Chi-Town Barbie under the bucket.

Angel Reese too did not stay too far behind from Caitlin Clark. The most rebounds by a rookie were set by Aliyah Boston last year with 11 rebounds. Overall, the seventh pick had the aim to go for 14 boards. However, she went for 11 rebounds to tie the all-time rookie record. She also logged 12 points to mark her double-double for her first All-Star game. Reese became the first rookie ever to record a double-double in a WNBA All-Star game. Let us look at the performance of these rookies for their first-ever All-Star game.

The very first game of Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark as teammates

Angel Reese also praised Caitlin Clark before the game and asked the followers to, “Everybody can wear their get-along shirts at least for a day.” During the game as well, the Chicago Sky rookie commented on being Caitlin Clark’s teammate and praised the first overall pick for her passing abilities. Their productive interaction on the floor came in the last quarter as the Fever rookie passed a ball to the Baltimore native and she made a layup.

The Chi-Town Barbie ended her night with 12 points going 50% from the field. She also grabbed 11 rebounds for the double. As for the Des Moines native, she went 22.2% from the field for 4 points and 10 assists for a 109-117 win. It will be some time when we see these two back together, but surely, their August matchup with their respective teams will be a hot thing to catch.
