Caitlin Clark: Better chef or baller? Which career would she dominate more?

“I’ll become a professional golfer,” Caitlin Clark spoke when she was asked about her off-season plans. She started the off-season by practicing golf and taking lessons from Martha Foyer-Faulconer. She, in the meantime, also announced that her winter schedule included playing in the Pro-Am alongside Nelly Korda and Annika Sorenstam. Therefore, when she was asked about her alternate career plan, a lot of fans felt that she might talk about golf. Instead, the WNBA rookie has chosen a new skill.

Clark during the Women’s Leadership Summit on Tuesday was asked her career choice if she wouldn’t have been a baller. To everyone’s surprise, the 22-year-old revealed that she would have been a professional chef, had she not taken up basketball.

In an earlier podcast with Gabbie Marshall and Kate Martin, she also shared her inner ambition, saying, “I always tell my mom I was gonna open this restaurant called the Rib Shack. I don’t know why.” While her interest in becoming a chef or restaurateur isn’t widely known, it’s said that in the off-season, she enjoys relaxing with more meditative activities, like baking. And, reportedly, she has a serious love for brownies.

The ROTY answered this question when she was attending the Women’s Leadership Summit on Tuesday. It was a lunch and speaker panel that aimed to impart knowledge to its listeners through the experience of women at top-notch positions in their respective careers. Apart from that, it also featured some professional golfers. The event took place at the Pelican Golf Club and post this, the number 22 will be playing alongside Korda and Sorenstam. But that does not mean that she has forgotten basketball.

The 22-year-old showed a side of her competitive nature, making sure that she countered Angel Reese’s head coaching change with equal zest. Notably, the ROTY has broken records this season as she became the highest assist-maker in a single season while becoming the first WNBA rookie to have a triple-double. Additionally, she is also second on the list of single-season highest three-pointer shooters.

“I just want to be better than everybody else… And so I think those two things. That’s what helps me be the best. I can be very honest and real with myself and I think at times that’s what… Definitely the younger generation struggles with is they always wanna point fingers but you always gotta look at yourself first and see how you’re gonna improve,” Clark stated while enunciating that she wants to be the best in the world and no one to be better than her.
