Caitlin Clark’s WNBA career and her sweet love life with boyfriend, Connor McCaffery, are on the rise. While she has shattered several all-time records in her rookie season with the Indiana Fever, Connor has leveled up too with a new job as the assistant coach for Butler University in Indiana. Having made their relationship public a year ago, Clark is no longer shying away from divulging little secrets from their relationship. And the latest update from the Iowa alum will only put a broad smile on your face.
During an Indiana practice session on Tuesday, Caitlin Clark entertained some questions from reporters. She revealed how their late-night plans mostly include going to the gym for some shooting competitions. “I definitely out-shoot him way more than he out-shoots me, but he tries to think otherwise,” she said with a chuckle. A reporter posed a follow-up question, asking, “Can you pick his coaching brain and bounce some ideas off of him, maybe?”
Clark let some more walls down as she expressed gratitude for Connor’s support. “More than anything, he’s just very supportive and kind of lets me do my thing. That’s something I really appreciate about him is just his support and his passion for basketball.” However, she also revealed how Connor doesn’t blindly agree with her ideas. “But if I definitely have an idea, it’s good to bounce it off him. He’s very honest. He definitely tells me when I’m wrong too and that’s something I appreciate as well,” Clark concluded.

Connor, whom Clark described as “selfless” and “loving” in a birthday post for him in July, worked as a development coordinator for the NBA’s Indiana Pacers before this new coaching gig. The couple met in Iowa, both playing for the Hawkeyes. That chapter has turned into a full-fledged novel as their relationship advances, with a shared love for basketball as the foundation.

Like Clark, Connor has also been a student of the game since an early age. Son of Fran McCaffrey, Iowa Hawkeyes men’s basketball head coach, he showed a keen interest in basketball. When his father went to work, so did he. And as Kobe Bryant did, Connor too watched game film before practice started.
Soon, he earned his place in the university and the team, and would show up hours earlier to work. It was also this level of shared commitment with Clark that deepened their bond. They now embark on new journeys together. As Connor fulfills his dream of coaching young talent, Clark has led the Indiana Fever to its first playoffs appearance in 8 years. As fans, we can only wish that they scale the ladder of success together.
