Caitlin Clark seems to have returned to form. While the Indiana Fever failed to win in the Barclay’s Center, they sure left their mark there. Specifically, their star rookie. Despite the 0-3 start to the season, Clark now gets to be on the same list as the legends like Candace Parker, Sue Bird, and Nikki McCray. After learning the news, fans couldn’t help but show their disappointment in the team who seemingly has kept the 6-foot guard in a cage.
Yesterday, against the New York Liberty, Caitlin Clark led Indiana with 22 points and a game-high 8 assists. Moreover, she also brought out her defensive skills to use with 6 rebounds and 1 three. In the process, she also became the fourth player in league history with 50+ points and 15+ assists in her first three games.
The WNBA quickly took it to their official X account to celebrate her amazing feat. They captioned the tweet, “In elite company. Caitlin Clark joins Candace Parker, Sue Bird and Nikki McCray as the only WNBA players to tally 50+ PTS and 15+ AST in their first 3 career games!”

The No. 22 in Indiana roster contributed 20 points and 3 assists in her WNBA debut. She put up 9 points and 6 assists in her home debut. And yesterday, she had 22 points and 8 assists against Liberty. Hence, she totaled her score count in the first three games to 51 points and 17 assists.
Candace Parker stood at 62 points and 19 assists in her first three games. 4x WNBA champ Bird had 59 points and 18 assists and McCray had 65 points and 15 assists in their first 3 WNBA games. While the fans are happy about her personal achievement, they are not vibing with the team.
“Understand how she rolls”: Fans go against the Fever roster for shading Caitlin Clark
One fan straight-up displayed their annoyance with the rest of the team for not playing with the same energy that Clark is. Certainly, the former Hawkeye has shown that her hype is for a reason. In her previous three games, she has single-handedly grabbed 51 points. In comparison, the rest of the team has only scored 166 points in total. But this is exactly how drafts work where the best draftees come into the worst-performing teams to boost their stats.
“She was thrown in a jungle with how awful her team is. I watched one game and they were painstakingly horrible”
Another basketball follower supported the 2x Naismith POY saying that the team should get her former teammates in Iowa to the pro. In their suggestion, the Hawkeyes have a better understanding of how to let Clark play so she can score. Certainly, her former coach Lisa Bluder has explained how she built the entire roster around this enigmatic hooper just so she can be comfortable and get the shots she can make.
“She is definitely playing on a very terrible team! Matter o fact, indiana fever need to go IOWA n get all her friends she played with on unrestricted free agent deals. Get her to play with people who Understand how she rolls.”
One Fever fan took an understanding stance that it can take some time for her fellow hoopers to get used to her quick and unexpected passes. Nevertheless, the fan said that it will take time just like it did for Iowa and then the Fever too will rewrite history. The fan also mentioned how some of the numbers for the rookie were better than the Liberty’s MVP Breanna Stewart. Surely, Clark was leading Stewie in both rebounds and assists. The rookie put in 6 rebounds and 8 assists today while the vet added 5 boards and 2 assists.
“And her stats were better than Breanna Stewarts’s today? Now if we can just get her team to look for & catch those fireball passes..It look the Hawks awhile to get used to them too.”

Another follower also mentioned how the team is showing off their weakness of being able to grab the possessions when Clark passes. They also said even when they do catch it, they are unable to finish. When Caitlin Clark had just begun her training week with Indiana, head coach Christie Sides had mentioned that her team was missing a lot of possessions and turning the balls over because they didn’t expect a pass.
“Would be more if her teammates could catch her passes or score when they do!”
A Clark fan suggested that the Fever should do a better job of passing the ball to Clark. In her home debut, many fans complained how Clark was simply standing in the corner, waiting for someone to pass the ball. While it was not the case in this game, it will be interesting to see how they perform in the next game.

“If her teammates could be better with adjusting to her passes and finding her when she gets wide open, she could be averaging more pts and assists. But we move on“
Caitlin Clark has herself agreed that the team needs to work on chemistry. However, it is also important to acknowledge that this team did not have a lot of time together. But it will certainly be a good sight to see them work with each other better as the season progresses.
