A fiery contest is on the cards Sunday at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark are all set to lock horns for the second time as rookies in the WNBA. But, before that, the NCAA Division I all-time leading scorer decides to extend a courtesy to a very special fan and give them a chance to witness their very first Fever game.

In the pre-game media address, the 2× USBWA National Player of the Year had a very interesting development to share with everyone. Apparently, she gave a chance to a 9-year-old girl to sit courtside and witness her in action against the Chicago Sky. Providing further details about it, Clark said, “It was one of the girl’s birthdays. She’s turning 9 today, and this is her first game. They are our guests of the game. It just worked out well. I’m sure they didn’t sleep last time. But, they’ll have more energy than probably anybody in the building.”

As it turns out, the 6-foot guard came across these little fans during the 1001 Hours of Impact project. Earlier, the 6-foot guard provided a preview of how things really went down for everyone. Clark expressed, “I was like, ‘Have you ever been to a Fever game?’ They were like ‘nooo!’ Ryan was standing over there, I was like, ‘well go ask him.’ They sprinted over there.”

Subsequently, these young fans experienced a sizzling show very early in the game.

Caitlin Clark slaying it in the opening quarter

A 13-foot two-point shot. That was the first order of business exhibited by the 1st overall WNBA draft pick in front of a sold-out Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Moreover, it also brought the first points on the scoreboard for the hosts. But she didn’t stop there and continued to make her presence felt on the hardwood.

Consequently, that led to a 5-point lead for Indiana in the opening 5 minutes of playing time. By the end of the quarter, Clark turned out to be the most effective player garnering 7 points while shooting 3 of 4 from the field along with a 27-foot three-pointer.
