Leadership is not a new thing for Caitlin Clark’s Iowa buddy Kate Martin. While as a part of the Las Vegas Aces, Martin is no longer in that position, she did not miss the chance to speak up to the new star Hawkeyes. Utilizing her vacation perfectly, the Glue took on the yellow and black players to share a few words of wisdom. But her attire and attitude are not something that the Indiana Fever’s rookie would ever miss noticing.

Overtime WBB recently shared a post of Kate Martin talking to the latest roster in Iowa. Jan Jensen has added a few new faces like Lucy Olsen to her women’s basketball squad. Hence, what would be better than getting some advice before the season starts, from one of the best leaders of the team that the sensational Caitlin Clark played in? While the Glue’s passionate message to the girls was definitely an entire cake, the cherry on top was still Caitlin Clark’s comment. The 22-year-old guard asked Martin, “Why are u so fitted? @katemartin”

In the video, the Aces rookie is wearing the Hawkeyes shorts with a grey full-sleeved T-shirt. Similar to her “chill” summer outfit of the day, her mindset also radiated some cool vibes. Martin addressed the new Hawkeyes by saying, “Why not show up every single day and work your a** off and see what can happen? Be the best teammate that you can possibly be. And see where your life’s gonna take you because maybe you can go out and live your dream. Play basketball professionally?”

She certainly was one of the best teammates and leader under Lisa Bluder. In fact, Caitlin Clark has praised her multiple times for the role she has played in the Des Moines native’s success in the collegiate basketball career.

Caitlin Clark and her special bond with the “opponent” Kate Martin

The University of Iowa and Lisa Bluder certainly hit a jackpot in the last few years. Especially, when they heard commitment from Kate Martin five years back. Then next year, when Caitlin Clark, the sensational hooper also signed herself with the Hawkeyes.

Who knew in the next 4 years, they wouldn’t just be breaking the records in the program, the Big10 conference, and the entire NCAA DI WBB but become one of the most talked-about duos out of U of I? Moreover, despite being separated into two different professional teams, they will continue being the best of friends that they have been for Clark’s last four years.

Caitlin Clark recently mentioned in a presser how she missed Kate Martin. She opened up that the Las Vegas rookie could do things that even she couldn’t. Over the last two years, we have seen Martin give some pick-and-roll action off of the No. 22’s assists. Not to mention how the NCAA’s all-time leading scorer praised Martin for her knowledge and sensibility. According to Clark, the former teammate “always knew if someone needed something.” In her eyes, Martin was the best “glue” that held the Hawkeyes together.

And while it may be some time before we see the two former Hawkeyes stand together again, we know that even in their enmity on the floor, they are closer to each other than ever before.
