As Caitlin Clark broke records this season, her sports memorabilia too gained much traction on the internet. The result of this was that one of Clark’s Panini cards sold at $97,212, making it the costliest card for a female athlete. However, with the point guard breaking more records and winning the ROTY honor, the demand for her collectible increased tenfold. Now, one of the collectors has listed a card at almost 3x the price.
While this signals Clark’s growth in the W and her craze, what doesn’t sit right with her followers is that she won’t be making any money off it. Instead, her card will get a humongous amount to the collector’s bank account because it is an authentic card signed by Clark herself.

The Caitlin Clark 1/1 Auto 2024 Panini – The National is currently listed on eBay for a whopping price of $350,000. On the front of the card, the first-overall pick is in the Indiana Fever jersey looking to make a pass and an original autograph. At the back of the card, there is an Indiana Fever logo with the ROTY’s name written on it.
Though the original price of the card is unknown, many speculate that this unprecedented growth has happened in the past few months as Clark clinched the ROTY. She took her team to the WNBA playoffs, a feat the Indiana Fever had accomplished last in 2016. Plus, she became the single-season assist leader in the league and occupied the second spot in three-point shooting. Certainly, Clark has shaken the league with her arrival.
And this might be the reason that her rare cards have become a priced possession for her fans. With this eBay listing, she easily eclipses her previous highest in a card sale, as fans advocate to stop her exploitation.

Clark’s ROTY card set sold out comfortably earlier this month. The Dutch auction had many of her rare cards that got to her fans. One such collectible was her Blue Viper 1/1 Autograph which was sold for $97,212. At the beginning of the auction, the Blue Viper 1/1 Autograph was $100,000. According to reports, there was a price drop every five minutes, and eventually, the card sold out for $97,212.
At the same auction, there were other cards too and all of them were out of stock within 5 minutes. The Panini’s ‘But it Now’ series ranged from $249.99 to $7,499.99. Therefore, as the latest 1/1 aims to go live on eBay, a lot of fans will be hoping to get their hands on the prized possession. And when it sells out, it will be 3x more than the previous highest card and will break that record.

Hopefully, Clark and Panini will look to make certain rules that will deter her exploitation by collectors. And maybe with time, we’ll be able to see credible auctions that pay a certain percentage of the sum to the athlete and their agency.
