Did Team USA make a huge mistake by snubbing Caitlin Clark for the Olympics?

Should Caitlin Clark have been a part of the Olympics roster for the USA? That question has dominated the headlines for some time now. While numerous reasons have been brought up for this snub, no one can deny that the Indiana Fever rookie at least deserved a shot. Especially considering her performances (She broke the WNBA record for most assists with 19) following the roster announcement. With Team USA’s first game against Japan in sight now, fans seem to have gotten over the decision to leave CC at home, though.

TJ Sports Queen reported live from Paris as Team USA prepares to take the floor on Monday. They asked the fans to express their confidence in A’ja Wilson and Co. to bring another gold home and how they felt about Caitlin Clark’s snub. Certainly, most responded to the question with complete faith in the roster for the gold, even if the NCAA’s all-time leading scorer was not on the team.

One fan said, “We hope they win. I hope we’re getting at least a silver. Or gold. But I mean gold would be amazing. But yeah, I think, especially for the USA, US basketball’s really popular.” Her friend chimed in to say, “Women’s basketball is really blowing up right now. They’re all amazing athletes.” These fans also had views about Caitlin Clark not getting into the roster.

However, they seemed to have accepted the reality of the matter as they mentioned, “I definitely think it’s both ways good and bad. I feel bad that she didn’t make the team but also she just got into the WNBA. I think she needs some time to get used to it, to get comfortable. Maybe in the next year start training and make the next Olympics.”

Fate over snub: Team USA gets the vote of trust over Caitlin Clark

The Olympic selection committee, head coach Cheryl Reeve, and the players, all faced the wrath of the fans when they decided against the Des Moines native. After that, one of the committee members mentioned how they did not want Caitlin Clark’s popularity to distract the team from winning their eighth consecutive gold medal.

Another reason for the snub came out to be the lack of international experience and chemistry between the No. 22 guard and the other members of Team USA. Recently, Andraya Carter even mentioned politics to be one of the reasons. She agreed with Arike Ogunbowale’s reasoning for her decision to take back her name from consideration.

Despite all the chaos that the decision brought out, Caitlin Clark herself was okay with it all. In fact, she is now on vacation with teammates playing ‘mermaids’. After viewing all angles of the resulting team, many fans are simply saying, “I respect the process that they choose the players and they’re gonna win both the medals. Women have never lost. They’re going to get the gold. Seventh time in a row. Yes Sir!”

Certainly, Team USA in women’s basketball is completely dominating the international grounds. FIBA has ranked them first in the world, owing to their winning mentality and standing records. Surely, we would have loved to see Caitlin Clark wear the red, white, and blue jersey. But it is also good for her to finally get away from the basketball court and grab a much-deserved break.
