We are almost a week away from the first time that the NCAA rivals Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark went against each other. However, Chennedy Carter shoving Clark to the floor became the major talking point coming out of the heated contest and has dominated the headlines ever since. As the Indiana Fever played their first game after a five-day gap, Clark not only reminded people what she really brings to the table for her team but also gave an answer to the incident that has been on everyone’s mind.

Before going against Aaliyah Edwards and Co. in the Capital One Arena, Caitlin Clark answered whether Carter should issue a public apology towards the NCAA’s all-time scoring leader. Responding to this, the 6-foot guard gave a one-worded answer, “No!” Adding more, she said, “Basketball’s competitive. I get it. Sometimes your emotions get the best of you, happened to me multiple times throughout the course of my career. People are competitive. It is what it is.”

Despite the huge whirlwind that the incident on the very first Commissioner’s Cup game of the season brought about, seems like the No. 22 of the Fever only has good words for the Sky guard. Applauding Carter, Caitlin Clark said, “She’s having a tremendous season. She’s played great basketball in my eyes. Probably in first place for the Sixth Player of the Year. She’s been great off the bench for them. I think she had what 25 here last night and really helped them win the game.”

Returning to the question asked, the 2x National Player of the Year dismissed the need for an apology. She also mentioned how the incident or anything related to the drama is not her focus. She reflected the same in her shoot around media availability as well.

Caitlin Clark shares her one disappointment with women’s basketball today

The basketball world has picked many hints about Caitlin Clark’s connection to basketball. The game that translated from the driveway with her brothers to high school, college, and now the professional league, has seen many versions of the 2x Naismith Player of the Year too. While her eyes lit up as she spoke about basketball on the floor, she did not share the same feeling for the words outside of the lines.

In her shoot around media availability in Washington tonight, Caitlin Clark mentioned the Chennedy Carter drama. She said, “It stinks how much the conversation is outside of basketball and not the product on the floor and the amazing players that are on the floor and how good they are for their team. How great this season has been for women’s basketball.”

The rookie also talked about the increasing crowd and viewership that college basketball and the WNBA is receiving. In tonight’s game, 20,333 fans showed up in the Capital One arena. According to reports, this was the highest-attended WNBA game since 2007.

These comments by the rookie might end any further discussions about the narrative around Caitlin Clark. Growing into the game with the right mentality seems to be Caitlin Clark’s mantra for the season. As she bags another win for Indiana, it’ll be fascinating to see how she further adds consistency to her game. Until their next game on June 16 against the Sky, it is delightful to see her approach towards the veterans of the game.
