Caitlin Clark's resilience: Is she the future face of the WNBA?

The Olympics break in the WNBA is finally here. The last piece of women’s basketball action commenced at the Footprint Center in Phoenix where Team WNBA handed a 117-109 loss to the Olympic-bound Team USA Women’s National Team. The night also proved quite productive for one of the two rookies of the night Caitlin Clark who finished her night by delivering the most assists by a rookie in an All-Star game. However, that wasn’t why she breathed a sigh of relief just after the fixture.

For the first time since September last year, Caitlin Clark receives a 1-month break from basketball. She reflected on it immediately after finishing her All-Star weekend. “I’m on vacation,” Caitlin Clark said the moment she entered the All-Star game press conference. She further added, “I can’t wait to not touch a basketball for a while…I think I’ve shot too many times in the past year.”

She also shared her plans for her time off basketball. From the looks of her comments, it appears that she is in desperate need of a break. Clark further added, “I think, just rest. I’ve been playing basketball for a year straight, it’s not an easy thing to just show up to and shoot off of a rack. It’s not something I’ve ever done before.”

Eventually, she concluded her thoughts by stating that she will be enjoying whatever time she gets for herself. Anyhow, this is not the first time that the NCAA Division I all-time leading scorer has reflected on getting a break from basketball.

Things are extremely weary for Caitlin Clark

Before her monumental effort at the College Park Center, she opened up about how the hectic schedule is taking quite a toll on her. “It will be really good for myself and my body,” Clark said at the pregame press conference before taking on the Dallas Wings.

Then she went on to explain the timeline behind her exhaustive lifestyle. She further added, “I feel like I’ve been non-stop going since probably like September of last year. Almost getting close to like a whole year of just playing basketball non-stop.”

By all accounts, Caitlin Clark deserves this break. Her relentless commitment to the sport has prevented her from taking some time for herself for quite a while now. Fans will hope that this helps her rejuvenate when the WNBA resumes after the Olympics break and the rookie’s performance continues to record an upward trajectory.
