Is Caitlin Clark the key to boosting WNBA viewership, or is it just her charm?

She’s here once again! None can deny, Caitlin Clark is enjoying her first offseason to the fullest. Whether it’s playing professional golf or spending quality time with her boyfriend, Connor McCaffery, she’s been doing it all. Yet again, she’s been spotted catching a glimpse of the Butler Bulldogs’ game at Hinkle Fieldhouse. But her being there isn’t the most intriguing part of this news—it’s her new look.

According to a video posted by Butler Basketball Guru on November 8th on X, Clark participated in McCaffery’s coached Butler game wearing glasses. It’s the first time she has been seen in those. But that’s not all. She might have something to contribute to the game as well.

Ever since her arrival in the WNBA, she has been a major reason behind the accumulated attention to the league. How could she not do it here? Undoubtedly, her appearance at Butler’s game is already drawing in major attention. A quick look up the X tells you that. With the 22-year-old clearing her intentions about not having much in store for the off-season, her constant sightings at Butler are only expected and with it, a few more eyes.

Her popularity was evident when coach McCaffery was hilariously introduced as ‘Caitlin Clark’s boyfriend’ during the game, and his brother Patrick, a player on the team, as ‘Caitlin Clark’s boyfriend’s brother’ on FOX broadcast.

But it’s a two-way deal. For Caitlin Clark, with basketball woven into her DNA, it’s no surprise she finds it hard to distance herself from the game. “I’m probably going to be, like, anxious that I’m not touching a basketball,” she said before the 2024 Paris Olympics break. Well, it seems the same is true for the offseason.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Caitlin Clark the key to boosting WNBA viewership, or is it just her charm?

But this isn’t the first time she’s gone viral

After supporting new head coach Stephanie White in her introductory press conference, Clark attended the Butler University men’s basketball season opener against Missouri State University. It was her first time at a Butler game, there to support her boyfriend, McCaffery, who was recruited to the staff just a few months ago.

As expected, she was surrounded by cameras, enjoying Butler’s gameplay. At one point, she was caught with a hilarious facial expression, leaving everyone curious. Social media buzzed with speculation—was she zoning out, did she forget the cameras were on her, or was it something else entirely?

One thing’s for sure, though: the 22-year-old Iowa native has an uncanny knack for keeping fans entertained both on and off the court. As for attending more Butler games, it looks like she’ll be around for the next one too. And why not? It’s the offseason, and these games give her a reason to be with her boyfriend, whether with friends, family, or even on her own.
