Coming on the back of a record-breaking rookie season in the WNBA, Caitlin Clark is spending time with loved ones and hitting the golf course. She is already preparing for next month’s Pro-Am golf tournament taking lessons from former LPGA pro Martha Foyer-Faulconer. Also on 19 October, we saw her with her boyfriend Connor McCaffery, as they attended the Golden Gala, an annual fundraiser for the Pacers Foundation.
The couple that went Instagram official last year in August, has often seen having a great time hanging out and supporting each other. They were also spotted together at a Pacers pre-season game earlier this month. But last weekend, both have them had to prioritize other plans of their busy lives.
Last Friday, Caitlin Clark returned to Iowa City to meet up with some former teammates. Videos emerged of Clark joyfully sprinting across the Iowa court, her face lighting up with a big smile as the team practiced under the watchful eye of Jan Jensen. The warm reunion included a touching side hug with the Iowa head coach, who once served as her assistant coach.
The reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year also made a cameo in a reel alongside her former Iowa teammates, including Kate Martin, Gabbie Marshall, and rising junior Jada Gyamfi. Just like old times, Clark found herself resting beside Martin’s bed, reminiscing about their shared college days. Keeping their cherished traditions alive, she also made a heartfelt visit to a children’s hospital with Martin, continuing their commitment to spreading joy and support in the community.
Meanwhile, on Sunday her boyfriend Connor McCaffery shared an Instagram Story, having a delightful moment at a friend’s dinner gathering. The original post came from Rob Dosier, a member of the operations staff for the Indiana Fever’s G League affiliate, the Indiana Mad Ants. The story was captioned, “Great bday dinner last night with better people,” highlighting the good times shared among friends.
Connor McCaffery previously served on the Pacers’ assistant coaching staff before transitioning to a similar role with Butler University. It appears he was enjoying quality time with friends from his days with the Pacers. The Instagram story showcased a lively dinner gathering with both couples and friends, but McCaffery was there solo as the Fever#22 is busy on a trip to her alma mater.
For those unversed, Connor McCaffery is the son of Fran McCaffery, who has worked as the men’s basketball head coach at the University of Iowa since 2010. Connor was coached by his father during his Iowa playing days and after graduating from the University in 2023, McCaffery took up a role with the Indiana Pacers as a basketball development coordinator.
Last month, after he joined Butler University in Indiana as an assistant coach, Clark was quick to show her support for him. She noted, “I’m super excited for him. Obviously his basketball knowledge is pretty good and it makes it fun. You can bounce ideas off of each other. He worked super hard for that.”
Meanwhile, Clark’s return to Iowa wasn’t just for nostalgia, it was a celebration as well.
Caitlin Clark and others honored at special Homecoming game
The Fever guard dedicated four years to Iowa, where she not only led the team to back-to-back championship games but also secured a conference title during her tenure.
During Saturday’s game against Northwestern, the Iowa Hawkeyes planned a special celebration of its 2024 class that reached the Final Four. Early in the second quarter, during a timeout, the team brought out Caitlin Clark, Katie Martina, and Gabbie Marshall on the court among other members of the 2023/24 class.
The team members received beautiful rings celebrating their 2024 Big Ten championship victory and an exhilarating run to the Final Four in the NCAA tournament. After spending three days reminiscing with her friends from Iowa, Caitlin Clark’s return to Indianapolis might be just around the corner. Soon, Connor McCaffery won’t have to navigate those parties solo anymore.
