The 2012 champions ended up on the winning side after five consecutive losses this season in an important road game against the LA Sparks. Anyhow, the occasion wasn’t memorable just for this sole reason. Finally, the standout efforts of the NCAA Division I all-time leading scorer Caitlin Clark resulted in collective glory for the franchise. Moreover, the exhibition also resulted in some stacking up of some historic numbers.
The rookie was instrumental in the 78-73 victory at the Crypto.com Arena on Friday. In the 37 minutes she spent on the hardwood, the 22-year-old registered a fantastic double-double and almost pulled off a triple-double. Apparently, Caitlin Clark scored 11 points, 10 rebounds along with 8 assists. In addition to this, there were also 4 steals, 1 block shot, and just 2 turnovers for the night. Consequently, she became the first rookie in the WNBA history to pull off such such stats.

The No.22 went into the penultimate quarter with just 5 points next to her name. This was a result after she missed out on 7 of her three-pointers. Nonetheless, she was making contributions in all the other aspects as she reached a double-digit figure in rebounds. Then, she buried her 8th attempt from way downtown with 2 minutes of regulation time still remaining. After this, the 19,103 present at the Crypto.com Arena witnessed a moment of brilliance in the final minute. She knocked down her 2nd beyond-the-arc shot from deep down which was enough to get the crowd off their feet.
Still, there were some gray areas for the 2× USBWA National Player of the Year. That’s where her teammates stepped up and rose to the occasion.
Caitlin Clark and Co’s collective effort
Despite a phenomenal fixture, it wasn’t the best of nights for her in terms of shooting. From the field, she was just 4 of 14 and converted just 2 out of her 9 attempts from the three-point range.
Regardless, she got some much-needed assistance from Kelsey Mitchell who secured 18 points, and Aliyah Boston who registered a season-high 17 points. Further, Temi Fagbenle came off the bench and delivered a career-best 17 points.
