The Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York witnessed history during the last WNBA game. And no, it wasn’t just about the home team’s 10th WNBA win in their last 11 fixtures. Seemingly, the 13,639 people present there saw last year’s MVP Breanna Stewart unleashing her wrath against the visiting LA Sparks while delivering record-breaking statistics.

A battered and bruised Sparks team was still trying to cope with their previous game disappointment against the same opponents. On top of that, their 5-game losing streak and injury woes were creating further misery and frustrations within their camps. This was made worse when they experienced the full extent of power possessed by the Liberty’s stalwart No 30. during the opening half itself. As it turns out, Breanna Stewart’s 24 points, 5 assists, and 5 blocks are the best-ever numbers pulled off by a woman basketball player in a half. This also included 3 steals and 8 of 10 FG efficiency.

However, her assault didn’t stop there, as she had much more to offer in the remainder of the game. Not only did she reach her career-high figures in block shots, but also she architected a 20-point gap between the teams to take the game beyond LA’s reach in the third quarter. Eventually, Breanna Stewart capped off the night securing 33 points, 7 assists, and 6 blocks, to go along with 3 rebounds and 3 steals. Moreover, this also makes her the fourth WNBA player after A’ja Wilson, Napheesa Collier, and Candace Parker to register 30+ points, 5+ assists, and 5+ blocks in a game.

Consequently, the display is thrilling for the fans. This is evident by their elation on social media.

Breanna Stewart’s historic feat celebrated by fans

As mentioned above, Stewart’s 6 blocks are the most put up by her in her career. Anyhow, there was one particular block that gained a lot of traction. In the third quarter, with just 2:45 left on the clock, her attempt to avoid a 3-foot two-point shot of Stephanie Talbot was enough to knock not only the crowd but also the internet off its feet. So much so that one of them termed it as the best block of June. The fan wrote, “The best block I’ve ever seen on a basketball court in June tbh.”

There was a neck-to-neck battle between A’ja Wilson and Breanna Stewart for the MVP award last year. But, the 29-year-old ended up winning the honor, eventually. This decision didn’t sit down well with many that also included the Aces’ head coach, Becky Hammon. Yet, one of the X users feels the call was right and Breanna Stewart is indeed a better player than A’ja Wilson. The fan reflected it in the comment section, “People think A’ja better still.”

For yet another night, the amazing chemistry between Breanna Stewart and Sabrina Ionescu was on display. Both of them combined and scored 57 points between them. As a result, some of the Liberty supporters used hilarious GIFs to extend their admiration for this fantastic duo.

Breanna Stewart has won the WNBA championships in 2018 and 2020. In addition to this, she was also adjudged the Finals MVP on both occasions. Keeping that in mind, one fan opined that she is a beast on the court while commending her attributes and applauding her skills. The fan expressed, “Yeah, she’s a beast on the court. Those WNBA championships ain’t won themselves. She’s got that rare combination of size, skill, and competitive drive. People get caught sleeping when they face her.”
