Kalani Brown claps back at critics—Is she right to defend herself so fiercely?

When the Dallas Wings clashed with the Phoenix Mercury at the College Park Center in Texas on Thursday, the Wings unfortunately were on the losing side. And as is the case, the fans were disappointed. A critic then added insult to injury which had their center Kalani Brown bursting it out on the critic. However, moments later she deleted her reply.

On X, the critic accused Brown along with Teaira McCowan of being the “Dumbest and slowest Centers” in the WNBA history. This apparently didn’t go down well with Brown who took the opportunity to take out some of her anger on the critic. “b*tch go play in traffic & stop playing wit me on this app…,” Brown responded while shutting the hater.

The critic was hinting at Brown defying the 24-second rule which states that a team will have to attempt a field goal within 24 seconds of taking possession of the ball. And Brown certainly seemed to lack in it as per the netizen. Brown played 23 minutes of the game and could only pot 6 points. She also had 8 rebounds and 2 assists with a 50% field goal percentage.

Meanwhile, McCowan who played for 15 minutes could only score 3 points and had an equal number of rebounds. Apart from that she also had 3 turnovers. Another stat that would have embarrassed the fans was that Brown had 4 personal fouls while McCowan had 3. All these were some reasons that led to the Wings’ loss in the close game.

The Wings had a close game with the Mercury who trumped the former to win the match. While the Mercury scored 104 points, the Wings had only 96. The Mercury won three quarters by a narrow margin whereas the Wings had the last laugh in the third quarter. The two major scorers for the Mercury and the Wings that fought neck to neck were Kahleah Copper and Natasha Howard. Copper scored 34 points whereas Howard added 36.

The duo also made a record by becoming the first WNBA stars from opposing teams to score 30 or more points with 70% or more field goals since the 2019 season. Hence, it was a complete delight for fans who could have been at the peak of their emotions when the result was out.

Now that Brown has shut down her hater, she would try to do the same to her opponents on the court. And maybe that’s why she deleted her comment because it’s that silence before the storms.
