WNBA tapping into the world of music has been an unexpected eye candy. Be it Angel Reese joining Megan Thee Stallion on stage, Brittney Griner and Natasha Cloud sending her an invitation, the league’s creative campaign with Coi Leray, or having Kehlani perform at All-Star, the interactions have been a joy. However, there’s one name the reigning Finals MVP, A’ja Wilson roots for, and so much that even a small appearance would suffice.

“BEYONCE,” uttered A’ja Wilson without wasting a second to reveal her admiration for the 42-year-old pop star. This transpired when she was with ESPN anchor Michael Eaves for an interview after the Aces triumphed over the Indiana Fever 88-69. Wilson was asked who she wished to come to Vegas and do a residency. Before the reporter could complete his question, Wilson said in a beat, “Beyonce.”

Taken by surprise, the reporter hadn’t even finished his words when the reigning Finals MVP spoke again. “And I say that with the deadest affixes. Beyonce, the Queen, the Queen B, yes. She doesn’t even have to come here for a residency, she can just come to a game and just say ‘what’s up’ to us and we’re fine, ’cause I know she got other stuff to do. So, Beyonce girl.”

The reporter then asked her if a concert and one-game attendance by Beyonce was all Wilson needed. “That’s all I ask,” A’ja affirmed.

But it is not the first time A’ja Wilson has pitched out to the pop star. As it turns out Wilson has been reaching out to Beyonce for quite some time. She made a pitch in March last year requesting Beyonce to own a WNBA team during an interview with sports journalist, Taylor Rooks.

She put out a lighthearted front and said, “Come on Beyonce! Get you a team girl. I don’t know if I’ll be playing for it because I like Vegas, but girl it would be great to come to your house.” Wilson also went on to suggest that the Say My Name singer should get a namesake team because it went hand-in-hand at this point. “Beyonce-WNBA, I think it’s perfect. So Beyonce girl…baby come on, holler at me.”

And Wilson’s wish today, might not be all a far cry, considering the Queen Bey has previously reached out to her former South Carolina Coach Dawn Staley.

Beyonce gave Dawn Staley a one-of-a-kind gift

This past NCAA season, Coach Dawn Staley lead her team at South Carolina to their third championship as they defeated Iowa Hawkeyes. She did so, becoming only the tenth college women’s basketball to go undefeated in a season. She also became the first black coach to attain the feat.

Following this, Beyonce sent some flowers with a personal letter written in the name of Dawn Staley. It read, “”To Coach Staley and the entire South Carolina Gamecocks, me and my family watched your games and cheered you on through the entire season. I am so proud of you. All my love.”

Beyonce has also previously attended NBA games numerous times in support of Houston Rockets. While that may not place A’ja Wilson’s Vegas on the cheering end for the Renaissance singer, an appearance could be a possibility nonetheless, with all the instances presented. Wilson has got her hopes up for hearing from the Queen. Can’t blame a girl for trying.
