“Love her or hate her you can’t ignore her” – this phrase sits right for the WNBA sensation Caitlin Clark. Ever since she was drafted into the league, there has been a murmur of “everybody” disliking her. Many say that the reason behind it if it’s true, could be Clark’s winning persona that has made her a crowd favorite. However, the Las Vegas Aces head coach Becky Hammon and veteran A’ja Wilson think otherwise.

Hammon was present in an interview just before the Indiana Fever matchup when she reflected on the upcoming moment that finally gave a clear view of the Clark rumor in the WNBA.

Hammon and her mentee Wilson expressed their support for Clark. Hammon furthermore also went ahead to rubbish such claims of “everyone” hating Clark, enumerating that they were concentrating on the match. The clip from the same was posted on the YouTube channel named Money Mike’s Syndicated Podcast on Saturday.

“We love Caitlin Clark. We love Caitlin Clark. There’s no… I think she’s amazing. I watched every time I possibly could and our and our league loves her. This has nothing to do… We’re just doing our job. We’re going to show up who is ever on the other team is on the other team. We don’t really care. We’re gonna show up and do us and so I think this narrative of like everybody… everybody hating on Caitlin Clark and even the black and white thing knock it off. It’s not there,” Hammon stated.

Since Clark’s arrival on the big stage, the WNBA has benefitted greatly. She has carried on her fans from the NCAA where she had unified applause for breaking the all-time NCAA men’s and women’s scoring record. Additionally, fans credit her since the New York Liberty registered a record-breaking $2 million in revenue during their game against the Indiana Fever.

Furthermore, the Fever’s ticket sales have increased by 93% from the previous season, as per Sportsnaut. All this has translated into the WNBA agreeing to invest around $50 million over the course of the next two years in private charters. Therefore, the league has benefited greatly from Clark’s arrival which some say is the reason for other women athletes getting jealous of her. And the same was attested by the NBA greats Charles Barkley and LeBron James.

Charles Barkley and LeBron James support Caitlin Clark

Barkley had notably called out unnamed WNBA athletes for their “petty” behavior. As per him, Clark is the reason for a lot of unprecedented hype that the WNBA is experiencing and hence athletes on the contrary should thank Clark. Similarly, James had previously in an appearance on “Mind The Game” with JJ Redick and had spoken in favor of Clark.

“You woman out there, y’all petty, man… Y’all should be thanking [Caitlin Clark] for getting y’all a*s private charters. All the money and visibility she’s bringing to the WNBA,” Barkley stated.

Similarly, James enunciated, “Caitlin Clark is the reason why a lot of great things are gonna happen for the WNBA. But for her individually, I don’t think she should get involved on [anything] that’s being said, just go have fun, enjoy. I’m rooting for Caitlin because I’ve been in that seat before, I’ve walked that road before.”

Hopefully, animosity, if any, between Clark and other WNBA athletes will end soon as everyone associated with the league will collectively contribute to its growth.
