Can Caitlin Clark overcome her turnover habit and become a WNBA superstar?

“She’s leading in all the categories. Assists, Turnovers, Points”. That’s Megan Rapinoe a few days back taking a friendly jibe at the  NCAA Division I all-time leading scorer Caitlin Clark while having a ROTY discussion with WNBA legend Sue Bird. And such has been the case with the Indiana rookie this season with the turnovers emerging as one of the major issues for her. Anyhow, it seems that she also concurs with it as the 22-year-old reflected on it recently.

The Olympic break is on and Caitlin Clark is making the most of it. After her Mexico vacation and some community services in her hometown Des Moines, the 6-foot guard decides to give some time to herself. Well, indulging in a candid interview with Iowa Hawkeye Wrestling alum Spencer Lee is one way to go about it. Speaking her mind on a number of things, she gets brutally honest about the one flaw in her game. This was when Lee asked Clark about the habit she can’t break. To which Clark responds, “Turning the ball over.”

While both of them had a wholehearted laugh about it, this is factually correct. The 2× USBWA National Player of the Year is acquiring the summit position in the WNBA in terms of turnovers in her debut season. At the halfway mark of the league, Caitlin Clark’s 26 games have produced a total of 145 turnovers. This averages to about 5.6 per contest. On top of that, there is a huge difference of 58 turnovers between her and Alyssa Thomas who is second in this list.

Despite this one shortcoming in her game, Caitlin Clark has been a dominant force in the WNBA as a rookie. And perhaps this is valid grounds for Indianola to honor her in a very special way.

Following this, it soon vaporizes into thin air with a portrait of Caitlin Clark emerging. Seemingly, Clark is having her hands spread out in her trademark No.22 jersey. And, if someone had a hard time recognizing her through this spectacular display, they can go to the bottom of it, to have a look at the name “Clark” just below the jersey.

There is no denying that after what she’s accomplished, Caitlin Clark is a hometown hero. Not only do the natives adore her in every possible way, but she is seen as an example for the future generation as well. Meanwhile, they can’t wait to see her back in action.
