The revenge game went strong in Phoenix tonight! Everyone knows how Caitlin Clark was snubbed from the 2024 Olympics. While she came strong against Team USA and broke another assists record, there was one more star who did not make a cut. It was Arike Ogunbowale of the Dallas Wings. However, while she could not show off her shooting prowess in the first half, she completely blew off coming back into the last 20 minutes as she took over Angel Reese’s double-double.
Caitlin Clark told Ryan Ruocco, “(Arike Ogunbowale) is probably the best one on one player.” The veteran sure sttod by it, bringing out the heat to the desert. In the third quarter alone, she drove the offense of the entire Team WNBA. The guard collected 24 points in just 10 minutes. She went 71.4% from beyond the arc and 60% from the field to give the team a much-needed boost.

She also ended the night with 34 points and 6 assists. Consequently, she also broke the record for most points in an All-Star game by any player. The 27-year-old became the WNBA All-Star MVP for the second time in her career. However, it all came with a dark side as the veteran stole the spotlight from the rookies as well. Caitlin Clark made the most assists (10) by a rookie in tonight’s game and Angel Reese became the first rookie to log a double-double in a WNBA All-Star game. Still, it was a complete Ogunbowale show in Phoenix.
Arike Ogunbowale gives a shout-out to Cheryl Miller for her game
It is not every time that someone inks their name in history. But the 2x All-Star MVP surely did go for that in the second half. Spoiling the farewell of Team USA with her scoring, she opened up on what led to her bursting out of her bubble in the third quarter. Arike Ogunbowale said, “Coach told me take a deep breath and go out there and play my game and that’s what I did.”

The Wings guard further complimented her team for the night, “It’s easy when you are playing with great players like these. We just wanted to get them (Team USA) ready for Paris. We just had fun and played our game.” Of course, the brilliant player also appreciated the 16,479 fans, who sold out the arena to celebrate these impeccable athletes playing against each other.
Tonight, Arike Ogunbowale grabbed her second All-Star MVP honor by delivering a truly enchanting performance. While the Atlanta Dream needs a lot more wins in the second half of the WNBA season, we can count on this win to give a boost of confidence to them.
