Caitlin Clark has become synonymous with record-breaking ever since she stepped onto a college court. The NCAA’s all-time leading scorer has been rightfully praised for taking women’s sports to a whole new level. From skyrocketing viewership to sold-out arenas, her impact is everywhere. But what about her influence when compared to NBA stars? Surely she can’t match up with them, right? Well, think again–because the Fever phenom is proving she absolutely can.

Jersey sales in the W took off like never before in 2024. The league saw an outrageous surge, and a big chunk of that credit goes to rookies Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese, who owned the top two spots in jersey sales. Their rivalry wasn’t just fireworks on the hardwood–it turned into a full-blown battle off it too.

Together, they sparked something massive. During the 2024 season, merchandise sales skyrocketed up by 500% compared to the year before. Player-specific jersey sales? Even crazier. A jaw-dropping 1,000% surge. And guess who led the charge? Yep, Caitlin Clark. Her Indiana Fever jersey flew off the shelves. Fever jersey sales alone shot up by 1,193%. As if that wasn’t enough, the Fever broke their single-game team store sales record at Gainbridge Fieldhouse not once– but four different times. But Caitlin Clark’s impact wasn’t limited to just the WNBA!

According to the latest reports, Caitlin Clark has done the unthinkable! She’s surpassed the likes of Jayson Tatum, LeBron James, and Anthony Edwards to claim the second-highest jersey sales of any basketball player at the end of 2024. The only one ahead of her? None other than the ultimate showman himself, Steph Curry.

For the past 12 years, it’s always been the same story–Steph Curry or LeBron James owning the top spots in jersey sales. But 2024? It’s rewriting the script. Sure, the Warriors legend is still sitting pretty at number 1. But the second spot? Not an NBA player. It belongs to Caitlin Clark.

Yep, she’s in the big leagues now. Right behind Clark, you’ve got the likes of Jalen Brunson, Jayson Tatum, LeBron James, Anthony Edwards, Ja Morant, Michael Jordan, Victor Wembanyama, and Luka Doncic rounding out the top 10. While a big debate has raged on about who the face of the NBA will be once Curry and LeBron retire, maybe..just maybe, it’s time to expand that conversation. Because Rashad McCants already has. And he thinks the face of basketball might just be Caitlin Clark.

But for Caitlin, now’s not the time to dive into debates or headlines. Her WNBA journey is just getting started. And she’s locked in. The Fever superstar is chasing greatness. And to be one of the all-time greats? She knows what it takes–Winning. Luckily for her, the Indiana Fever look like a team that can make that happen this year.

Caitlin Clark and co make big off season moves

The Indiana Fever made a big statement last year. After a rough 2-8 start, not many had them making the playoffs. But they flipped the script–returning to the postseason for the first time since 2016. Now? Expectations are higher. The offseason brought in some big changes.

Starting with hiring the 2024 WNBA Coach of the Year, Stephanie White, who was with the Fever the last time they had won the championship. The Fever front office made some big-time acquisitions as well. All-Stars Natasha Howard and DeWanna Bonner were added to bring toughness and experience on defense. Plus, Sophie Cunningham was brought in to add depth behind Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell. The Fever look a very exciting team on paper.

Stephanie White couldn’t hide her excitement after locking in the new signings. She said,“We got to surround our big 3 with great veteran players that complement them, and I think we have done that. We were fortunate to do both (free agency and adding depth). It puts us in a position to compete.”
