Does Angel Reese's act of kindness set a new standard for athlete-fan interactions?

Angel Reese is truly a Chicago Star. The Chi-Town Barbie continued her amazing start to her pro career on Saturday, becoming the first rookie to post a double-double in the WNBA All-Star Game. After leading Team WNBA to a memorable win, Reese stopped to share a wholesome moment with a fan who held a cute trade sign for her.

The board had many candies and a message that read, “I’ll trade U ALL these 4 Your SHOES.” Before heading out, the 22-year-old star stopped by the young fan. Reese took off her sneakers and gave them to her. She also let the fan keep the candies and signed the kicks before giving them off.

But let us remind you, those were not ordinary candies but the special Hersey’s Reese’s Pieces. The Sky Rookie is a big fan of these candies. Do you know how the brand responded when they learned about the rookie’s love for their sweet and delectable creations? They openly expressed their admiration for the 3x All-American forward. It likely started during her days playing for LSU. Reese often referred to her fans as Reese’s Pieces, the same name as Hershey’s peanut butter candies.

It got more popular after Reese tweeted to call out her fans saying, “Reese’s pieces, Where yall at?????” after a win over the Indiana Fever. It must have reached Hershey before it could reach the fans. Soon, Reese’s X account by Hershey responded to her comment saying that they are following their “favorite player” sparking hope among fans about their collaboration. According to sources, the collaboration might come true as Hershey’s spokesperson said, “Reese x Reese does sound quite tasty.”

More recently, Reese wrote another message on X teasing a partnership with the brand wishing “good morning” to “the Reese’s Pieces onlyyyyyy.” Well, if she has special personalized and funky peanut butter cup sneakers made by shoe artist Marvin Baroota, a collaboration with the chocolate manufacturers isn’t so surprising now. But she continues to surprise her Reese’s Pieces every time with her consistently elevating performance.

Clinching a 117-109 victory over the USA Basketball Women’s National Team is a big deal for Reese. Because of the change in the format of the All-Star game, Reese was seen teaming up with her arch-rival Caitlin Clark for the first time as well. And both have been phenomenal in making history.

Clark had 4 points on 2 of 9 shooting from the field and 10 assists in the game, breaking the rookie record for an All-Star Game while Reese contributed with 12 points on 5 of 10 shooting. After her selection as an All-Star, Reese expressed her thrill to the fans. “We won today, but they just told me I’m an All-Star, and I mean. I’m just so happy. I know the work I put in,” Reese said in the post-game conference after a win over the Atlanta Dream.

The rookies were fabulous but the stealing the show was Arike Ogunbowale, who dished out 34 points to set a new WNBA All-Star record. All in all, it was a power-packed performance from Team WNBA.
