Just 16 games into her pro career, Angel Reese is already making history. In the last minute of yesterday’s game, the Chicago Sky rookie became the first WNBA player to register 10 consecutive double-doubles in a single season. Not only is she leading the WNBA in rebounds per game but also in total rebounds. All as a rookie. This fantastic achievement speaks volumes about her growing potential in the league and also gives a glimpse of what she will be like in the future. As a result, she has a reason to be thankful for despite this loss to Minnesota as she made a heartfelt confession on social media.
Angel Reese expressed her gratitude to Chicago post-game on X and wrote, “I’ll say this every day and twice on Sunday. win or lose. I’m so happy I was #7th pick to the Chicago sky.” Fans are reciprocating her feelings in the comment section as they praise and bless the Chicago Sky rookie for this achievement.

Things caught up to the rhythm when Angel Reese registered her second double-double of the season with 13 points and 10 rebounds against the New York Liberty. Since then, Chicago has lost 7 games and won only 3, but one thing was common, i.e. Reese was delivering double-doubles in every game.
In the record-breaking game against the Minnesota Lynx, Reese recorded 10 points and 16 rebounds while making 4-of-16 field goals and 2-of-4 free throws. While Chicago lost the game 70-62, it was a memorable occasion for the LSU alumna. And she wasn’t alone.
Reese had a special surprise as her mother was present in the audience and watched her make history in the WNBA as a rookie. Let’s see how the fans are reacting to her stunning performances.
Rookie Angel Reese has stunned the basketball world
Comments such as “A perfect fit! It was meant to be!” and “Sweet Home Chicago” were common. Right from the start, Angel knew where she would be heading on the night of the WNBA draft. It occurred to her during the draft process when she spoke to Coach T-Spoon on the phone and felt like she was at home and understood by her. Something we cherished with her former LSU coach Kim Mulkey, under whom Weatherspoon once played college basketball.
“They’re gonna bring the best out of you every day. They come into practice with a lot of energy and they expect a lot out of you. You can’t take a day off. I love coach Spoon and her being able to bring everything out of me, just how I had at LSU,” Reese had said, drawing parallels with her time at LSU.
Congratulating Reese for breaking an almost decade-old record, another fan wrote, “Double double queen.” Although, it shouldn’t come as a surprise as Reese was already recording double-doubles during her time in college as well. In her college basketball career, Reese garnered 1426 rebounds and 2162 points.
Making things biblical, a fan wrote, “Psalms 46:5,” which translates to – “God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early’ which means God will not let her fall.” With this comment, it looks like this fan was answering what Reese previously wished to get when she said, “The best thing anyone can do or tell me is that they prayed or have been praying for me!” Angel for one is a strong believer in God and she likes to share her connection with the Almighty with her fans from time to time.
Taking things across sports, a fan wrote, “Brock Purdy was the last NFL player drafted by the 49ers in 2022. He’ll sign a $400 million contract extension in 2025. Tom Brady was the 199th player drafted out of Michigan. You know the rest of that story. You’ve earned every ounce of fame and success in 2024, and beyond.”
Before this year’s WNBA draft, several speculations were made that indicated Reese to most likely be selected by either the Washington Mystics or the Minnesota Lynx. According to the 2024 WNBA mock drafts, Washington and Minnesota were placed to select the 6th and 7th picks, respectively. However, the Sky traded up a pick because they wanted Reese.
