As the WNBA rookies Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso were inducted into the Chicago Sky this year, the franchise saw an increase in revenue. The fan following is better than last year, and the WNBA team had most of its home games as a sellout. In fact, the game against Caitlin Clark’s Indiana Fever in mid-June saw a record average viewership of 2.3 million. All this has contributed to Sky having more revenue to set aside for their player development and recently, they shared exciting news regarding the same.
The Chicago Sky has announced a new training facility that will be operational from December 2025 onwards. The franchise will begin construction in fall this year which will benefit the entire team. The $38 million training ground provides space for comprehensive team training and is spread over 40 thousand square feet. The news of the same was announced by the franchise officially on their social media handle Instagram account on Thursday.
“The Sky will break ground on the new training facility this fall and expect it to open by December 2025,” the franchise had captioned the post with images of the ‘Sky Town.’ The decision comes after there were reports in the market that the Chicago Sky is now valued at $95 million with Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso’s entry into the WNBA team. Last year, they had made around $12.5 million.

This new training ground is located next to the Wintrust Sports Complex at Bedford Park, as per the official announcement. The training center will have two WNBA-sized courts with complete facilities for the players including player lounges, film rooms, training rooms, a locker room, and content creation studio among other things. But it will not only benefit players but also help in better community building.
New training center to help in community building
The new practice facility will be close to Wintrust Arena and will help the players enjoy the culture of Chicago by living near it. It will allow them to have top-class food from Chicago and enjoy the entertainment sites in the town. It will also give a chance to the Sky team to strengthen their impact on the residents of Chicago since the facility is located near Chicago’s West and South Sides.
