“Yeah, I’m single,” eager fans were disheartened when Angel Reese spoke those words during an Instagram Live in March. When Reese announced her relationship with the then-Florida Seminoles star Cam’Ron Fletcher in June 2023, good wishes followed suit. However, as the Chi-Town Barbie got more eyes on herself as a senior Lady Tiger, things got complicated between the two. And taking a lesson from her suffering, and turning it into something positive, the Maryland-born shared her take on X on Friday.
“now i see why people hide relationships & keep everything private 😭 like i don’t think i’ll ever openly share that part of my life with yall again until im married cause yall do THE MOST!,” the 22-year-old expressed her perspective. And certainly, it also came as a disappointment for her admirers, who want to get regular updates about her life.
While the two had met six years from the date of her revealing the relationship, it was the pandemic that brought them close. When she had first admitted to the relationship on the 1 Star Recruits podcast, the Maryland-born looked happy to have found someone who shared the same career as her.

“We both play the same sport, so we understand each other’s schedule. I think that also helps with it too,” Reese had confirmed. The love birds were in a serious relationship and were expected to be lifelong partners by many.

When Reese broke up, fans considered long distance to be one of the major reasons. At that time, the LSU-alum was traveling with her team throughout the country whereas Fletcher suffered a season-ending injury in a game against North Carolina. Her extensive balling duties were speculated to have come between them.
Talking about the public reaction, the Chi-Town Barbie reflected on the exhaustive process during one of the episodes of the Unapologetically Angel podcast when the Chiefs tight Travis Kelce’s ex-girlfriend Kayla Nicole featured on the show.
“Like the next… it was just… it’s too much like people knowing when y’all unfollowing each other and don’t follow each other. And they’re in the comments like even for his sake. Like the fallout was bad but like me they post their commenting under his pictures. Like I don’t even like that,” Reese shared. Meanwhile, she also added that Fletcher’s name wasn’t as big as hers, which somewhere points out that the different career trajectories created a gap between the two.
“Like obviously his name wasn’t as big as mine but like just being able to see them commenting on his pictures of my name. Like just leave it. Like I don’t like that. Like I agree it’s just too much for me,” Reese expressed.
As mentioned before, while Reese had won the NCAA 2023 Championship and was considered a top candidate for the W, Flecther’s career was plagued by injuries that never allowed him to develop to his complete potential. Furthermore, even at that time, the W’s seventh-overall pick shared the same vow she shared today ‘of never sharing her relationship unless married.’
“I don’t think I’ll ever get in, like I had a public breakup but like obviously I didn’t get what you received. But I don’t think I would get into another public relationship unless I’m getting married,” Reese stated on the Unapologetically Angel podcast in October.
While the breakup was bad, the love story was indeed a beautiful one as long as it lasted. In fact, they were one of the power couples in the entire NCAA once and their exchanges and actions reflected the same.
Angel Reese and Cam’Ron Fletcher did have a good thing going, until it didn’t
During their relationship, Reese and Fletcher had to go through a lot. However, nothing seemed to come in their way. Once, the Seminoles star gave her about 200 roses around V-Day this year, giving major relationship goals to their fans.

He even made an appearance in front of the camera, most probably through Facetime, despite being injured and balancing himself on crutches, expressing his love for his lady. “Will you be my Valentine?” read a giant pink card as the 6 ft 7 senior guard clutched flowers.
Reese too reciprocated the same feelings at that time, sharing a clip of the proposal on Instagram Story. “Long distance is the worst. But he is all the way in NYC. Just had surgery & did this. I love you a MILLION TIMESSSSSS,” she stated. However, as the Lady Tiger star geared up for the few final moments in Baton Rouge, there were rumors circulating the air that the two had broken up, and they were no more a couple. And it didn’t help when the two unfollowed each other on Instagram.
While the duo, at that time, did not announce their separation, Reese removed every possible trace of her former lover from her social media account. Pictures that were once considered to be a benchmark of love weren’t on the social media platform anymore.

“Life is a journey and the path is never straight. Embrace the twists and turns and keep moving forward with faith and determination. GOD got you. God bless! i love Everybody,” the Double-Double Queen followed up on her Insta story.
All this caught the eyes of fans and social media did its worst. Aggravating the situation. But looks like she has taken a lesson from that period. Hopefully, Reese will soon find love and perhaps tell her fans once she gets serious. Till then, we can only speculate who is winning her heart in the meantime.
