Angel Reese gets revolved around a controversy yet again. Apparently, the WNBA Commissioner’s Cup clash against the New York Liberty turned out to be a bitter experience for the rookie as the referee ejected her moments before the game reached its closure. Following this, the 22-year-old is on the receiving end of some brutal online trolling.

A gritty double-double (13 points, 10 rebounds) in 24 minutes by the 7th overall WNBA draft pick wasn’t enough to turn the tides in Chicago’s favor as the hosts suffered an 88-75 loss to the visiting New York Liberty. However, the thing that made more headlines than the result was the episode that transpired between Angel Reese and the officials.

Charles Watson called a fifth personal foul following a rebound tussle between Reese and Liberty’s No.35 Jonquel Jones. After this, the 6 ft 3 in forward exchanged some unpleasant pleasantries along with a waving hand gesture with the refs that resulted in her receiving two technicals.

In addition to this, there are also some financial repercussions that Angel Reese will face for her antics. According to some sources, her 2 technicals will extract a sum of $400. Apparently, a sum of $200 for each foul. As per the WNBA, a player will receive a fine of $200 for the first three technical fouls in a season. This gets escalated to a $400 fine for fouls four to six. The WNBA will double this amount to $800 along with a one-game suspension if a player goes beyond this mark.

In the meantime, Reese is facing a lot of backlash on social media bringing Caitlin Clark into the picture.

Angel Reese faces tough times on social media

Angel Reese has been very vocal about her current envious equation with adversary Caitlin Clark in the last few days. She wasted no time in siding with her teammate Chennedy Carter and gave some very bold statements directed toward Clark. Pointing that out, fans opined that she would blame the 6-foot-guard for her current situation. One of the comments was, “Somehow I am sure she will blame Caitlin Clark for this.”

Another X user used a sarcastic tone to convey the same message. The comment from his side was, “Caitlin Clark’s fault apparently.” This was targeted at the fact that Caitlin Clark is getting much more defense and attention from the entire league. But Angel Reese has to once again take the villain role.

Following the same chain of thought, one WNBA follower was absolutely certain that this would be the next step taken by the 2023 NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player. The fan expressed, “Absolutely she will.” Seems like everyone is unanimously pointing in the same direction.

At the same time, one basketball follower had a completely different outlook on the fact that this time around Angel Reese was getting the spotlight and not the Fever’s rookie. Hence, they commented their surprise at the fact, mentioning that the world is ending. “OH MY GOD THE WORLD IS ENDING, I DONT SEE CAITLIN CLARK NAME.”

The chain of thoughts did not stop as the fans continued trolling the 6-ft3 power forward. Another fan popped up in the comment section and followed suit. “and somehow this is caitlin clark’s fault”
