Last October, the 2024 WNBA season ended with the New York Liberty lifting their first-ever WNBA title. Like every year, several WNBA players flew across the pond to play overseas. However, for the others, the offseason vibe felt a little different as they were getting an opportunity to remain in the States for an eight-week season called the Unrivaled.
Kicked off over a week ago, Unrivaled has featured 36 of the top WNBA players, including Angel Reese, to compete in the first domestic alternative league. With four games into the season, Reese has started to outshine her potential. Let’s see how.

Angel Reese going big against the Laces BC
Four games into the season, Reese has encountered the Laces BC in yesterday’s matchup only. In the game, she gathered 17 points along with 3-of-5 field goals, 1-of-2 shots from the arc, and 5 free throws. Moreover, she grabbed 7 rebounds with a strong defense and 2 assists and steals apiece.
Although it was a 64-71 defeat for Rose, the game turned out to be a success for Reese in expanding her role in the backcourt, especially after she was challenged by Kate Martin. In her season opener, Reese brought back her powerful impact with a double-double performance of 10 points and 14 rebounds with a strong defensive front. However, Rose took a 73-79 defeat from Vinyl BC.

In the second matchup, the Rose faced off against the Lunar Owls. Again, it was a 79-70 loss for Reese. However, she added 12 points, 6 rebounds, and an assist to the total score. Then, it was their third game and first win of the season as they took over the Mist BC with a 71-66 win. As for Reese, she didn’t see much time on the court and could score only 4 points, 6 rebounds, and a steal and a block. Also, she made only 2-of-6 field goals.
Now, let’s check out what lies ahead for Reese this inaugural season.

How are things looking for Reese in the upcoming Unrivaled games?
Through 4 games since the season took off, Reese is averaging 10.8 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 0.8 steals per game. Moving into the season, Reese is set to face some of the WNBA’s toughest players, including Brittney Griner, Natasha Cloud, Sabrina Ionescu, Satou Sabally, Marina Mabrey, and Katie Lou Samuelson, as the Rose BC will be playing against Phantom BC this Friday.
Thereafter, the Rose will again play against the Laces this weekend before they take on the Mist a week after that. Now, despite the recent loss, Angel Reese kept her stronghold on the court, especially on the defensive end, and delivered a solid display overall.
Along with her double-digit scoring, Reese did have to deal with some foul trouble throughout the game as well. Before that, she posed a strong defense.

Overall, Angel Reese is enjoying the offseason hustle, as she recently told ESPN, “It’s like a fun summer camp here. We’re doing everything we love to do and just being all together at one time.”
Plus, being one of the fresh faces in the WNBA, Reese is still on the path to discovering her hidden potential, a glimpse of which came out in her previous game when she posted an unexpected three-pointer after Kate Martin’s challenge. So, it is okay to say that this Unrivaled season is going to be full of surprises and adventure ahead.
