It’s becoming clear that Angel Reese of the Chicago Sky is rapidly emerging as the WNBA’s next big star. While her on-court skills are undeniably impressive, it’s her off-court moves that are generating just as much buzz. Fresh off a partnership with a popular candy brand, the Sky rookie has now revealed an exciting new venture that ties her to none other than NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal’s network.
Angel Reese is now stepping into the world of podcasting as she joins the ranks of athletes who are also hosts. She recently made the exciting announcement on X, sharing a teaser video for her upcoming show. She wrote, “💞SO EXCITED FOR THIS!”. The show, Unapologetically Angel, will release new episodes every Thursday and the premiere episode drops on September 5 which will be hosted by Angel Reese and Maya Reese, who is of no relation despite sharing the surname.

The rookie’s podcast is produced by Playmaker HQ, the same team behind Shaquille O’Neal’s ‘The Big Podcast’ with Shaq. It is the newest addition to Playmaker’s star-studded lineup, joining popular shows like The Roommates Show with Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart, and The OGs featuring Udonis Haslem and Mike Miller.
“I mainly want this podcast to be a place for authentic and unfiltered conversations,” said Reese, who has decided to write her own story amidst all the negative media coverage. Reese has always been outspoken, but she’s made it clear that she dislikes when the media distorts her words or takes quotes out of context. Let’s talk about Reese has been constantly subjected to criticism from media.
How media has treated Angel Reese in the past?
Angel Reese’s podcast has a catchy five-word tagline, unveiled on Instagram: “What They Gonna Say Now?” It seems like Reese’s tagline might be a nod to her critics, who keep nitpicking her game despite her standout impact as a rookie. “I can’t wait to share a different side with listeners and have them come on this ride with me,” said Reese.

Have an interesting take?
Angel Reese has had her share of media scrutiny. Take June’s game against the Indiana Fever, for instance, where Reese committed a flagrant foul on Caitlin Clark. Afterward, a reporter even questioned if Reese was genuinely okay with her ‘villain’ persona. In fact, some media personalities have also declared Reese as ‘bitter and jealous’ towards her archrival for ROTY, Caitlin Clark.
“I can’t trust any of y’all [media]. So I’m just letting you know — short and sweet,” Reese said earlier in an interview who has accused media of twisting her words. What better way to set the record straight than with her own podcast? It’ll be intriguing to see how Reese uses this new platform to connect directly with her audience and fans. You can tune in on the YouTube as well to watch the first episode releasing on September 5.
