The Windy City has been good to Angel Reese so far. The new addition of goodies from Serena Williams and an AMG G-Class SUV is just a trailer to what Baton Rouge’s phenomenal hooper has in line for her. However, with all that, also comes the responsibility of being the best version for the WNBA. Hence, with the training week commencing, Reese is trying her best to adapt to the new world of the professional league, especially one rule she did not know about.

While the Chi-Barbie is still a rookie, she pointed out to a reporter that no one treats her like one. Commenting more on the same, she said, “They embrace me so much, they don’t treat me like a rookie, so I feel at home.” The rebounding queen of the NCAA at LSU also reflected on the first day of the training camp alongside Kamilla Cardoso. She said, “Actually I wasn’t as bad as I thought I was gonna be. I thought it was gonna be crazy.”

The SEC DPOY, who prides herself on being a great defender, mentioned one thing that she does need to improve upon. She said, “One thing I do need to adjust to is the 3-second call. I didn’t know about that. I didn’t have much knowledge on like you can’t do defensive three seconds, so just being able to learn that.”

According to the WNBA’s official rule book, a defensive player, like Reese, cannot stay in the paint for more than three seconds unless actively guarding an opponent. If broken, the player gets a technical while the opposing team gets a free throw.

Watching the veterans play first came in handy for Reese as she will be practicing on Saturday with Kamilla and Brynna Maxwell. Hence, she got the chance to learn about the rules beforehand. But she did have some compliments to shower on her new coach.

“She’s been super intense”: Angel Reese on the Sky coach Weatherspoon

Angel Reese is no stranger to strict coaches. Previously, it was Kim Mulkey at LSU and now it is Teresa Weatherspoon. Hence, when the interviewer asked her about the intensity, she only had positive things to say. Commending her new coach, Reese said, “She’s been super intense. I love a coach that’s fiery. Brings energy every day. You know what you’re gonna get from her. She’s going to bring the best out of you every single day. You want somebody to push you every day out of greatness because I don’t wanna have an off day.”

The No. 5 on the Chicago roster also reflected on what it means to be at Sachs Recreation Center. She said, “I want everything to be hard. Coming to a place like this is special, this is amazing. So, I’m excited to start from the ground up and be able to work.”

It will be a thrilling ride to watch Kamilla Cardoso and Reese on the floor as teammates after they have given the world hundreds of glimpses of rivalry.
