During her Vogue photoshoot to put out the news of her WNBA commitment, LSU’s style icon said, “I didn’t want anything to be basic.” And surely, Angel Reese is anything but that! She is unapologetically herself and one of the ways for her to achieve that is fashion. Hence, the freshly turned 22 celebrated her birthday in one of the most diva ways. Nevertheless, after giving the world several looks to swoon over and also attending the 2024 WNBA draft in one hell of a number by Bronx & Banco, the Chicago Sky rookie has checked all the boxes for standing out.
Fashion was her forever love and also her alternate career option. So, why stop even after being a lottery pick for a professional team? Celebrating the former Bayou Barbie’s birthday, the fans cannot help but love her way of partying in ‘style’. Yesterday, the Chi Barbie celebrated her first birthday as a professional hooper. Hence, there was no doubt that it was going to be a big deal. But who knew that she would cross a distance of 790 miles to attend an event in the Big Apple? And that the event would be the star-studded 2024 Met Gala?
The WNBA’s official Instagram account showed off their rookie and congratulated her. They captioned the post, “The Chi-Town Barbie is at the Met Gala 🤩 Happy birthday, Angel! Angel is in 16Arlington by Marco Capaldo.”

The Costume Institution holds a fundraiser every year at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This year, it attracted a handful of sports personalities. However, Angel Reese became the only WNBA rookie to get an invitation from Vogue’s Anna Wintour. Hence, her fans are head over heels once again.
“THAT BARBIE!” Fans clamor for Angel Reese on her Met Gala look
Commenting on her own look, Chicago’s No. 5 told Women’s Wear Daily, “I feel beautiful, and I feel sexy. I’m just excited to see everyone’s outfits. Everyone looks amazing in here. Being here on my 22nd birthday is amazing.” While she was in top spirits as she added another year to her age, the fans too were excited about their stellar hooper. One Instagram user who called herself Reese’s aunt was simply mesmerized by how the 6-ft-3 Sky rookie keeps up with her image.

“At the Met Gala on your birthday! Always have and will always be THAT GIRL! HAPPY BIRTHDAY FROM YOUR LOUSIANA AUNTIE!!” Anthony Antoine of Fox26 Houston also applauded the new face of the WNBA as she made an unimaginable entry to the elite and expensive affair on Monday night. “The Met Gala on your 22nd Birthday!!!! I see you niece”
The popular chain market TJ Maxx too could not stop from commenting on Reese’s photos. They complimented her skills of pulling off the most iconic looks on the various carpets and events. But they also mentioned how she has changed the women’s sport with her immaculate performances on the court as she debuted her WNBA journey with a near double-double.
“A star on the court AND the carpet.” Mielle Organics, who was the hairstyling sponsor for the 2024 WNBA draft, also came in the crowded comments section to show their appreciation. They have prepped Angel Reese for her Orange Carpet look that grabbed everyone’s attention. And again, she did just the same with her 16Arlington by Marco Capaldo custom, sparkly mint-green gown and sleek hairstyle with almost no makeup.

“Angel is THAT BARBIE!” The French multinational retailer of beauty products, Sephora, also joined the hyped-up comments area. Although they did not have an endorsement deal for the young hooper yet, they did appreciate the sports representation that the NCAA’s popular face brought to the tie-and-dye green carpet of the Met Gala. Apart from Reese, many other sports personalities too graced the floor of the event. These were Dwyane Wade with his wife Gabrielle Union, Serena Williams, Lewis Hamilton, Venus Williams, Ben Simmons, and Stefon Diggs. “Love seeing sports representation here”
Undoubtedly, Angel Reese pulled all the stops this time around. From getting a private charter to wearing the very on-theme dress, she definitely is raising the heat and the level of the competition. However, she does have another pre-season game against the New York Liberty coming up. It will be interesting if she will be able to get her fierceness on the court again.
