Angel Reese started her career with the Maryland Terrapins in 2022. The Maryland native then transferred to LSU for her junior year because, as per her own admission, she wanted to be a part of the “winning culture.” However, the NCAA glory she got in her first season with the Lady Tigers changed her perspective on winning and, to some extent, was “tiring”, according to her latest interview.

Reese was present in her namesake podcast on Thursday when she shared how her life changed after winning the NCAA Championship title, which had her fans pondering if winning is the only thing that matters.

“My life changed. When I won a National Championship, it was not the same. But like before then, like going to parties, late nights, waking up in the morning, like going to class like, it’s annoying. It’s fun but it’s like for four years. It’s tiring. Like you get tired of it. I say like everybody should enjoy their college experience. USC would have been a good one like LSU was good. Because if the football team is good like it’s good then,” the Chicago Sky rookie revealed.

Reese, as mentioned before, after two seasons with the Terrapins, went to the LSU Lady Tigers. In her first season itself, she bagged the Championship title. But that came with its own difficulties. In the 2023 Championship Finale, she pointed out her ring finger to Caitlin Clark and also did John Cena’s You Can’t See Me move. For her antics, she received a lot of criticism from her haters. And that’s when it all changed for her.

“Because everybody was like all over me when I went out. Like if I had a cup like I couldn’t, they was taking pictures of me drinking and stuff like I just felt uncomfortable. It wasn’t a good experience for me and I feel like really really overwhelmed cuz everybody was coming. That’s like when you in college, it’s no sections, like you all in a big pit. Like everybody’s just right there and I just didn’t feel comfortable doing that. I didn’t like that,” Reese further added on the Unapologetically Angel podcast.

As a senior, when Reese missed four NCAA regular season games, there were a lot of speculations about her grades. While her mother Angel Webb Reese was involved in an argument with her teammate Flau’jae Johnson’s mother, Kia Brooks pointed out, “You definitely know about grammar errors when your daughter got a 2.0 or less GPA.”

This further led to everyone believing that Reese wasn’t up to the mark in her studies. And now that she has talked about her studying experience, maybe attending classes isn’t what ever wanted to do. On the other hand, Reese previously too had shared her bad experiences since her title win.

“I’ve been through so much. I’ve seen so much. I’ve been attacked so many times. Death threats… I’ve been threatened. And I’ve stood strong every single time… I just try to stand strong for my teammates because I don’t want them to see me down and not be there for them ….. All this has happened since I won the national championship and I haven’t been happy since then,” Reese expressed.

Perhaps, now that Reese has shared her take on being popular, more and more players will look to support her. Plus, social media and other channels will make sure to add a safety clause for everyone so that no one goes through what Reese has experienced.
