One of the biggest dramas unfolded in the game between the Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky at Gainbridge on Sunday when the two were at loggerheads. Firstly, Reese was booed on by the Fever crowd while attempting a free throw. Nonetheless, Reese was undeterred and potted it. However, what left the fans in utter shock was when Reese shoved Clark to the ground.

The Indiana Fever led with a 63-62 tally against the Chicago Sky when Clark was going for a layup. Reese in that moment trying to block the shot gave a huge blow to Clark while jumping up that the latter fell to the ground. Consequently, Reese received a hard foul. Though after the referee review, the call was overturned, and it was tagged as a flagrant 1 foul. Clark took complete advantage of the situation and scored both free throws and now the scoreline read 65-62 to the Fever’s advantage.

This was not the only time that the Sky had received a flagrant 1 foul. Even in their last game against the Fever, the Sky’s star Chennedy Carter had shoved Clark to the ground. Reese even then was seen standing on the bench and clapping for her teammate. This suggested that Reese was in fact happy when Clark fell on the floor. Even that call was overturned to a flagrant 1 foul in the next few days. Meanwhile, Carter didn’t apologize for her actions.

And hence today, when today Reese was given a foul which was later upgraded to flagrant 1, many fans came into speak of their point of view. Since it wasn’t clear if Reese had intentionally hit Clark or if it happened due to the game.

Fans divided over Angel Reese’s foul against Caitlin Clark

“Right call. Wasn’t intentional but still strong contact to the head,” another netizen stated. The user was pointing out the fact that Reese’s hit didn’t look intentional, but it was a good call by the referee to protect Clark. It also drew attention to the fact that the Sky is always trying to physically dominate Clark in whichever way possible. Therefore, Clark needs that protection.

“Every time this happens, I want to see Caitlin go score 100. She will come out on top of this needless bullshit,” a user stated. This reminded all the fans of the days when Clark single-handedly contributed to her team’s win in the NCAA. She had a lot of 40 point games. Therefore, its only time that Clark took her revenge with her game.

“Angel Reese just clotheslined Caitlin Clark in the head as she went up for a lay up. What a clown. The pettiness is so funny to watch,” another fan remarked. The fan was referring that there has been a lot of narrative against Clark and mostly she is on target by Reese. Since Clark has been getting all the attention, other WNBA stars are disappointed by this fact and want to remain in the media for their action. And their actions are nothing but petty, as per the fan.

“Greg, it was a hard foul no doubt. But Angel Reese was competing and going for the block. Refs got it right by upgrading the foul to a flagrant,” one fan believed in Reese and stated that the Maryland-born was going for the block. Hence, Reese didn’t intentionally want to foul Clark instead just wanted to prevent Clark from scoring points.

Now that Reese has got a flagrant 1 foul, she will be careful of how she tackles Clark. Meanwhile, Clark would try her best to successfully tackle the physicality in the WNBA.
