Angel Reese's new Reebok kicks—game-changer or just another hype? What's your take?

The Chicago Sky as a team may not have a celebratory night tonight. Despite their valiant efforts, their final few choices gave the win to the hosting Connecticut Sun. However, the same could not be said for their star rookie Angel Reese. The Chi-Town Barbie arrived at Uncasville in her signature collection with Reebok. After heating up the tunnel walk, she also had a surprise for her fans in Connecticut about the recent announcement she made.

Tonight, the Sun defended their home court in an 82-80 win. But Reese showed up and showed out as well. The rookie picked up her 21st double-double in a 13-point, 20-rebound outing. But what shone brighter in the Mohegan Sun Arena were her shoes.

The official X account of Nick DePaula of the Boardroom posted a tweet sharing the update with his followers. He wrote, “Angel Reese celebrated her new deal with @Reeses by wearing her customized Reeboks tonight inspired by Reese’s Pieces & Cups. @Reese10Angel had 20 rebounds.”

The celebration came just three days after the announcement of her joining hands with the candy brand. Not to mention, she has completely changed the shoe game from the time she came into the league. Courtesy of the custom shoe designer Marvin Baroota. As of now, she is the only WNBA player to endorse any food brand on a shoe.

It is funny that although she is repping these classy orange-yellow shoes to give Reese’s a shout-out, the cleats are not a part of the signature apparel collection. So then, what is, you ask?

For months now, the seventh overall pick has been teasing her followers on various social media accounts about this deal. While we cannot confirm just when the talks really started between the two, we have proof from June that she called out her X followers as “Reese’s pieces.” Indeed, an apt name for her fans. But it also had Reese’s, the brand, replying to her in the comments.

According to Angel Reese, she wanted this deal for four years now and was possible because of her agent Jeanine Ogbonnaya and her fans she admits. Talking about the apparel collection that dropped two days ago, she said, “I wanted to deliver something that they could proudly wear this season. We worked as quickly as possible with Reese’s to build a collection that really reflected who I am — bold, vibrant, and unapologetically me.”

The collection will include hats, hoodies, shirts, sweaters, and more wearables by the rookie. The logo is also interesting which has “Reese’s Angel” written in the typical Reese’s cup style. It will be worth watching how Angel Reese will rep her merch next in the most creative and ‘unapologetically herself ‘way.
