Angel Reese has always looked up and forward when thinking about her life. Now, with the ever-increasing deals coming her way as she makes some noise in the WNBA, it is only fair that she rethinks her commitments with the previous ones. Probably, even get a deal resonating with her 2023 NCAA finalist opponent Caitlin Clark. While she already has an agreement with Reebok, can she ask them to mirror the contract for her too?
When talking in her post-win interview, Reese told Girls Got Game, “I’m signed with Reebok. I’m gonna have a sneaker with Reebok one day.” This was in response to which company Reese would like to team up with if she wanted a signature shoe. The No.5 on Sky also added, “More women should have a shoe. Being able to see that is great.”
If she does sign such a deal, she will be amongst just a handful of African-American basketball athletes to have a shoe. These include Candace Parker, Lisa Leslie, Cynthia Cooper, and Dawn Staley. Chi-Town Barbie will also join the first-ever female hooper to get a signature shoe and her fast connection– Sheryl Swoopes.

The request for Angel Reese to have a shoe of her name also arises from the fact that Caitlin Clark, who is NCAA’s generational talent, has recently signed a $28m/8 years deal with Nike. Through her deal with the $10 billion sports athleisure company, she will also get a signature shoe. However, since both the two athletes are quite prominent in the basketball world, it is only justified that both should have a similar deal, at least to some extent. Let us jog our memories to how the two have made an impact in the WNBA as well.

Although there have been many women who have laid the foundation for women’s basketball, the world has never experienced something like the 2024 WNBA draft batch. And most importantly, athletes like Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark. Tales could be written about their enmity on the court. However, outside of it, they are just as good friends as any other. But this ability to balance their relationships is not what was the most attractive part for the basketball fans.
The two have been a menace on the floor for their opponents. While one is a queen of scoring and playmaking, the other is a defensive powerhouse. Garnering innumerable fans over the course of their college basketball careers, they changed the sight of women’s sports. And they are carrying the same to the professional leagues with them. So much so, that the two athletes had sold out their jerseys within one week of the 2024 WNBA draft. They also sold out their tickets and forced the other teams to feature games in bigger arenas to satisfy the requirements of the spectators.

Hence, with so much power in the hands of these two ladies, there is no denying that their respective shoe brands should have their signature shoes. While Nike hopped on the bandwagon as soon as Clark shifted to the WNBA, Reebok seems to take its time. However, it is a positive sign if Angel Reese is already dropping hints of such a collaboration.
