The incidents revolving around Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese from their Sunday face-off have attracted multiple views of contrasting nature. While many believe Reese’s actions fall in the category of “basketball play”, there is some severe disagreement of many with her behavior after that. Apparently, the rookie’s narrative that “some people got a special whistle” isn’t sitting well with not only her haters but some eminent analysts as well.

After Emmanuel Acho, it was now the turn of Fox Sports Radio’s Doug Gottlieb to spare a thought or two on the latest antic involving the two rookies. While he was in agreement with Acho that the flagrant foul was a harsh call on the former LSU standout, he too posed questions on Reese’s comments in the post-game press conference. Gottlieb went on and said, “If we’re going to strip away and start to tell the truth, Angel Reese doesn’t exist in the public landscape if not for Caitlin Clark. Caitlin Clark exists just fine without Angel Reese.”

The 2023 national champion has been at the receiving end of heavy criticism ever since she came out in support of Chennedy Carter’s rough play against the NCAA Division I all-time leading scorer in their Commissioner Cup opener. Seemingly, soon after the game ended she accused the media of snubbing her contributions towards women’s basketball and glorifying Caitlin Clark. Consequently, social media and the basketball observers labeled her “selfish” soon after that.

Now, her latest opinions are drawing something similar from many.

Reese’s remarks on Caitlin Clark that are receiving such a backlash

The media surrounded the Chicago rookie for her reflection on the in-court antics. To which she responded, “I can’t control the refs. They affected the game a lot tonight. I’m always going for the ball. But y’all going to play that clip 20 times before Monday.”

Soon after, Reese also dropped a major accusation on officials Fatou Cissoko-Stephens, Eric Brewton, and Jenna Reneau for issuing decisions that favored Clark. She further added, “And going back and looking at the film, I’ve seen a lot of calls that weren’t made. I guess some people got a special whistle.”

Meanwhile, her contemporary, Caitlin Clark had a very balanced response to all this, She expressed, “It’s just part of basketball. It is what it is. Trying to make a play on the ball, get the block. I mean, it happens.”

The narratives continue to gain traction. Everyone has a different viewpoint of how things really went down between the two rookies and what transpired after that. Although, the fans would still love to see them square off multiple times in the upcoming days.
