Many would believe that Angel Reese has been at the receiving end of some negative limelight in the WNBA lately. Her controversial equation with Caitlin Clark has put her in the firing range of not only the fans but also some eminent basketball observers. However, her recent face-off with the 2010 WNBA Rookie of the Year might clear out the reservations many are holding against her.

The Chicago Sky lost their Commissioner Cup encounter against the Atlanta Dream on their home turf. Despite their star rookie Angel Reese ending up with a third consecutive double-double, the hosts couldn’t cope with the offensive challenges that appeared in front of them late in the penultimate quarter. However, the 6 ft 3 in forward was still glad that the fixture turned out to be a great learning curve through her interaction with veteran Tina Charles.

She reflected on it in the post-game media address by saying, “Being able to come and face some of the greats. Being able to play Tina Charles, being able to play A’ja Wilson. Being able to play a lot of these great vets makes me better every single day. Obviously I wasn’t getting that in college.”

The 2023 national champion was seen sharing a special moment with Charles as soon as the game reached its end. The former was seen extending some valuable first-year tips to the 22-year-old. The two of them exchanged a warm hug by the end of this lovely meet-up.

This episode transpired after Angel Reese put up a phenomenal show in front of  8,804 fans present at the Wintrust Arena.

Angel Reese becomes a top drawer for Chicago

It was yet another Angel Reese special for the home crowd. The rookie made sure she utilized her 33 minutes on the court to the full extent and registered 13 points, 13 rebounds, 2 assists, and 5 steals next to her name. Consequently, this makes her only the third player after Erlana Larkins and Tamika Catchings in WNBA history to secure 10+ points, 10+ rebounds, and 5+ steals in consecutive games.

The 2024 SEC Player of the Year had a decent night in terms of shooting as well. As it turns out, she was 5 of 10 in her field goals and converted 75% (3 of 4) of her attempts from the free throw line.

Surely, Angel Reese is getting a hang of things in the Windy City. Her overall numbers provide a justified explanation of the immense talent that she possesses. It was amplified when ESPN ranked her #2 below Cameron Brink in rookie ranking earlier this week. It will be enticing to see what more headlines she can garner in the upcoming days.
