Round two of one of the most fierce professional rivalries in modern women’s basketball took place at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Sunday. After just a single point separating Indiana and Chicago the last time around, fans were eager to experience what Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese had to offer in their second rookie face-off. However, a 7th 20+ performance from Caitlin Clark was able to overpower a 6th straight double-double from Angel Reese to help Indiana get the better of Angel Reese and Co. for the second consecutive time.

As it turns out, the home crowd didn’t have to wait for long for their favorite to kick-start the proceedings. In the opening minute itself, Caitlin Clark scored a 13-foot two-point shot and got Indiana’s scoring underway. This was quickly followed by a stunning 27-foot three-pointer and another two-point shot from the 3-foot range. As a result, the end of the first quarter resulted in her securing 7 points while being 3 of 4 from the field.

On the Sky’s side, Angel Reese’s assist resulted in Marina Mabrey scoring a 6-foot two-point shot. Subsequently, it was followed by Reese’s two-point shot in the next couple of minutes of playing time. A 6-foot hook shot and a steal from Caitlin Clark were the other interesting developments for her in the opening quarter that helped her register 4 points and 4 rebounds.

The second half story for Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark

Caitlin Clark turned her beast mode on in the third quarter by securing 9 points in just 5 minutes taking her total to 18. Furthermore, some sublime conversion from the free-throw line (4 of 4) helped the home team capitalize on their first-half lead despite Chicago scoring 2 more points than them. On the other hand, the 2023 NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player made the most of her defensive skills and scored 3 more rebounds to get past the double-digit mark.

The penultimate quarter was no different for the Fever and Caitlin Clark. By delivering an offensively dominant display comprising a game-high 23 points, 9 assists, and 8 rebounds, Clark became the fastest WNBA player to record 200+ points, 75+ rebounds, and 75 assists.
